I made a point of talking to him about my bouquet last week so he would ge the hint, haha. Peonies have always been my favourite flower, but he never buys them! (Well, they are hardly ever in season anyways). He typically goes for roses because I think he thinks they are the ‘fancy’ flowers, but I *hate* roses… they are so overpriced in my opinion! (Not knocking them, just not my fave).
So after showing him my bouquet, he was like ‘what are those flowers called again?’ and wrote down what they were. So, we’ll see! By we are long-distance so I’m not really getting my hopes up, haha!
Funny side-note: When he asked how to spell peony, I laughed and asked him what he thought. He started spelling: P-I-A-N-E-E… Haha, oh men!

I’m not a big flower person. I love looking at pictures of them but my cat and dog would probably destroy them. I’ve gotten flowers from him twice, and both times he did well. Once I got tulips and anothr time I got daisies.
I was proud of him for even remembering. On our first date, he asked me what kind of flowers I liked, and he’s still remembers them all 2 years later : ) That’s the part that gets me all giddy…

Fiance always gets the most beautiful flowers for me. He actually sent me some yesterday and a cute plush monkey!

He tries, he really does but he’s far from good at it. On our first date he brought me flowers but by the time he got to the restaurant, they were dead. It was disgustingly hot that day and his car didn’t have AC. Between the time he bought them and arrived at the restaurant (half hour tops), they were completely wilted. It was the thought that counted though and I kept those dead flowers for weeks until my mother finally threw them away because they were starting to smell.
He never gets me flowers anymore because we can’t really have them in our condo. Our cat LOVES to eat flowers and since I never know whats poisonous, I don’t even risk it. Besides, I don’t really see the point in spending money on something that’s going to die a few days later.

My SO did such a good job today for Valentines Day! I told him a wee while back that I loved “fluffy flowers” – peonies, lisianthus, ranunculus, etc. He got me flowers delivered today and when I thanked him for it, he needed to check that they were “fluffy”! Bless!

my fiance has been hit and miss a lot of times, but i would say, guys generally are not great at picking flowers unless they just go straight for roses. and if they’re like my fiance, who doesn’t like going with the “crowd”, he’d go for other types of bouquets which sometimes can be really nice or just blah lol.. but i’m just glad he tries! he’s not the romantic type either so i can understand you completely!
great idea for a post though! hope your husband learns eventually? 🙂 (shove pictures of bouquets and flower arrangements into his wallet so he wont forget lol)

My Fiance gets simple classic roses and that is great with me! He didn’t used to know what to do, but it means a lot to me that he tried to figure out what I like and does his best. 🙂

Oh, geez no, he is horrible at picking out anything for me. He really puts alot of thought into what he buys, almost too much. This year at Christmas he did all his shopping at the CVS pharmacy. And he is always buying me roses, I hate roses more than any flower. He really does try, but bajeezes, if he shows up tomorrow with another batch of roses….. I think I may have gotten my point across when I was talking to him earlier about my dad sending his wife yet another batch of run of the mill roses. Fingers Crossed.

I’m not a bouquet loving girl, I don’t like the thought of him spending money on something that will just die. For special occasions he knows that I much prefer something that lasts forever.
However, I do love flower gardens, so last year my guy let me pick out all of the flowers I wanted and he planted them and cared for them for me. He ended up growing me an entire garden of flowers. Does that count as him buying me flowers? lol I thought it was really sweet. He said we can do the same this year.

@angela85: DH hadnt bought me flowers for the first 2 years of our relationship. Then I told his 3 sisters that he never bought me flowers and they gave it to him!! Now he buys me flowers a few times a year. He has gotten a LOT better. He has fairly good taste in flowers but occasionally will get a bouquet that has some that are a little wilty. The one time he got me sunflowers he won big points because theyre my favorite. I think its just a matter of training!!

@PitBulLover: My dad buys my mom flowers every Sunday so I think I grew up in a uber romantic environment that maybe set the standard a bit high… But my dad even bugs Darling Husband to buy me flowers more often. I guess it worked well for him so he’s trying to share the wisdom 😉
So we woke up this morning and I said “Are you going to go get me a chai latte for Valentine’s Day morning?” and he did! Yay! So flower fail but latte win 😉 He’s apparently also coming home a bit early, but I’ll have to pick him up from the train station, so it’s likely I won’t have any other “surprises” coming to me today. I get to spend today cleaning the house for our dinner tonight. Hooray? LOL!

I don’t get flowers sent, but then again, I work for a florist, LOL. He has sent me flowers a few times in the past, and he has done really well – no roses. He sends me peonies, tulips, or calla lilies 🙂

If you ask my FH what my favorite flowers are he’ll tell you exactly what they are…purple tulips.
Has he ever gotten them for me in 4 years? No. What did I get today? Roses, of course.
I love them. and him. It’s the thought that counts 🙂

@AnneTossy: That’s adorable. Maybe you have the Charlie Brown teacher effect too? LOL! I agree, it’s the thought that counts. I told him last night how pretty the flowers smell, I could smell them from a few feet away on the couch. I’ve also told him a bunch of times how pretty they look next to our wedding photos, so hopefully he feels good about them.

@bakerella: hey I think that is a win! Flowers die in a few days anyway – and my cats eat them!!! Darling Husband has yet to get anything for me for V-day – I dont think hes getting me anything. Though I cant complain because we will be going out next Monday for our 6 months 🙂 And it is the thought that counts!!!
