So I just got back from the animal shelter here in town. One of the guys I work with found a sick duck on company property, so I volunteered to take her in to the shelter. She was really, really sick; like laying on her back (ducks don’t do that), hardly breathing, tried to struggle a little when I picked up her box, but otherwise didn’t move, etc… I tried to get over to the shelter fast, but it is about a 10 minute drive. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it. A couple minutes before we reached the shelter she started really moving and then just stopped. By the time I got her out of the car, she was dead. 🙁 Now I feel like a moron because I’m sitting in my office crying over a duck. It was really sad, though. I would take an early lunch if I could, but I have a lunch meeting today so I have to stick around. What a crappy way to start the day.

Mrs. Spring, I am just so sorry you went through that! I would be the same way and it’s OK to cry. <<HUGS>>

Aw, I’m sorry. I would totally feel the same way too. My daughter had a kitten this winter and we only had it like a week and it died for no reason – I was SO sick over that little kitty dying and was bawling my cube too.
Hope your day gets better.

Awww that sucks!!! I hit a duck with my car once and made my then Boyfriend or Best Friend go back to see if it was still alive. I had massacred it unfortunately but I was upset about it for days. I totally understand, hope your day goes better. ((((HUGS)))

So sorry. I hate that stuff. I got upset when car driving on the other side of the street hit a squirrel. the squirrel was sitting there moving. I told my husband to turn around. He asked what we could possibly do? I said, "I don’t know. take it to a vet." He laughed at me. And said the best thing anyone could do for it, was hit it again. 🙁 (Don’t worry. He’s not heartless. I understood what he was saying. But I can’t stand that stuff.)

I know! I am such a softy when it comes to animals. One of my co-workers just called to appologize for asking me to take the duck. Apparently I was asked because they knew I wouldn’t turn them down, but now everyone feels bad that I am taking it so hard. Sigh…. I just hate stuff like this.

So sorry, Mrs. Spring …. I know exactly how you feel and chances are I would’ve been the same way. I had to have my kitty put to sleep a couple of months ago and on the day I found out he was sick (he had cancer) I was shut in my office bawling my eyes out until my boss found out, felt sorry for me and told me to go home. I still tear up when I think about it (like now ) …
Sending hugs your way, and I really hope your day gets better!

I am so sorry to hear that. You shouldn’t feel like a moron, you’re human and have emotions. I hope the rest of your day is better. =)
