So I’ve been a little obsessed with baby names lately, which is kind of ridiculous because we’re not going to be TTC for another 2 whole entire years! I know it’s what’s best for Mr. Blueshoes and I as a couple and there are so many reasons it’s best to wait, but I CANNOT. STOP. THINKING. ABOUT. NAMES.
Mr Blueshoes and I already have a ton of names picked out, and I’ve started organizing them accordingly into sets. I’m starting to realise the there are two main formulas for sucess when you have weird taste:
1. Have one ‘wild card’ name, and then two ‘bordering on socially acceptable’ names to balance things out.
2. Pick 3 names that have different styles but a similar level of quirkiness.
So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite sets:
1. Llewyn, Cecilia, Annie
2. Scarlett, Carlotta, Theodore
3. Sebastian and Celeste
4. Henry, Zia, Lillith
5. Silas, Clara, Elodie
So indulge me bees, what are your chosen picks for siblings? I’d love to hear them, regardess of whether they’re real children or presently imaginary.
ETA: I organized them into threes with 2 girls and 1 boy because we’re hoping to have 3 biological children, and our name ratio is about 2:1 in favor of girls’ names. You don’t have to follow this pattern by any means.

@Ruby-Redshoes: Smith is my all time favorite boy name and Aria for a girl
I am also obsessing about baby names far too early 😀

I really love the names Amara and Ansel.
(yes Aussies, I know Ansel is a condom brand in Australia… oh well!)

We don’t want children for at least 3+ years, if at all & in the event we decide to be parents, we only want two at max! I love names though & have always thrown around ideas in my head ..for like ever haha.
If we have two boys.. Mark George III “Trey” & Dominic Carlin.
If we have two girls.. Emmeline Rose & Hilary Christina.
If we have one of each.. Mark George III “Trey” & Emmeline Rose.
That’s all assuming we have kids like tomorrow. Who knows what our ideas will be like when there’s actually a real child that has to be named haha.

We aren’t having kids for a while either, but recently just started talking about the topic and what sounded good with FI’s last name. We settled on Sophia and Hudson for now. :p

@FutureMrsA2014: I know it’s way too early to be thinking about names, but it’s just so hard to keep my mind off of it! I love Aria btw, it’s so pretty but still something a grown woman could pull off which I think can be a really hard balance to strike.
@lolot: Ooh, I like Ansel, would you use it for a boy or a girl? Don’t worry about the whole condom thing. There was a thread a while ago about words that would make nice names and I’m kind of considering Sonnet as a middle name now.
@stephanie091512: Emmeline is on our list too, it’s so beautiful and refined.

If we had two boys (I already have one) – Anthony Joseph and Elijah Jacob
If we had two girls – Lillianna Marie (anna is pronounced AHnna.) and Aubrey Anna
If we had one of each? Aubrey Anna and Elijah jacob (or the one we already have Anthony Joseph)
Wild card – Abel Erickson (I have no idea why)
What we HAVE to name our next son (the first name atleast) 🙁 – Thaddeus Alexander

I have been obsessing about babynames since before me and Fiance were engaged. I even find myself looking at the baby section on pinterest.

@Ruby-Redshoes: how do you pronounce Llewyn?
I don’t think its too early to think about names…i’m pretty sure I’ve had baby fever since i was about 13. LOL Fiance and I agreed to wait until we get a house to TTC…which will be a few years (might I add that 4 of our friends/famil are due between April and July…which doesn’t help my baby fever) haha anyways…for a little boy I love the name Tristan Robert (middle name is FI’s first name)…for a little girl we both like the name Madison right now (Maddie for a nickname) and Cheyenne.

@Ruby-Redshoes: Such a cute thread idea! I love the name henry 🙂
1) Cora & Benedict (boy and girl)
2) Zelda, Aiden, and Riley (one girl and two boys)
3) Cora & Zelda ( two girls)
4) Aiden and Benjamin (two boys)

@Ruby-Redshoes: Well, I’m naming my daughter Cora Genevieve. I want to keep to an old fashioned but not super common theme. So far my ideas have been:
We want 3 kids, so combos would be:
Cora, Hazel, Violet
Cora, August, Leo
Cora, Samuel, Rose

@quierajen: I love Genevieve too! And August. But when I suggested that to my husband, he just laughed and was like “How about September?” I tried to tell him that it’s a classic name but no dice.
@Ruby-Redshoes: Ansel = boy, like Ansel Adams. I love Silas and Elodie!

@lolot: Genevieve is such an elegant name. I thought it was nice to have a short sweet first name that sounds good on a toddler and a 60 year old woman, and an eloquent middle name that she could use if she wanted something more fancy one day.
It’s also a form of Jennifer which is my middle name <3
I LOVE Augustus, but FH isn’t so fond of it, especially since I’d call him Gus when he’s little. I just can’t get enough of that idea though.

@Ruby-Redshoes: Drake Dean and Avery Grey. We’re both big hunters, so those first names have alot to do with hunting. As for the middle names, Dean is a family name for him, and Grey is my favorite color. These are the ONLY names we’ve ever decided on.

Hm, I wouldn’t name based on sibling “sets”, but let’s pretend I suddenly fall pregnant with sextuplets.
….Mix and match firsts and middles as they fit. These are just some of my faves. Classic but recent. Maybe one or two kids with the same name in a class, and common enough through several generations for teachers/bosses to have a clue how to say/spell them and not raise eyebrows. I think “Melody” is my only curveball.
