First let me clarify–not THAT fancy. I’m on a a major budget. Something between like $40 and $100. But ideally a brand name recognizable to cool people. Something that says “I’m 22 years old and I live in Brooklyn and I intern for the Hillary campaign and I buy vintage luxury slippers off e-Bay and I smell great.” She’s not ultra girly, so I’m looking for interestingly spicy/citrusy/woodsy scents as opposed to floral/vanilla. This is not my area of expertise, but I bet some of you know what I’m looking for. Thank you!

When in doubt, Chanel. The ULTIMATE classy perfume! I couldn’t tell you which Chanel would be the best, but most places that sell perfume let you smell each individual scent first.

I like Marc Jacobs Decadence. It’s not been out that long. I don’t know how relevant this is but I buy a 50ml bottle for about £60ish. Apparently the scent is “succulent Italian Plum, rich Bulgarian Rose and sensual Liquid Amber”, whatever that means. The bottle is just too cool as well (sorry if photo is huge):

mrsthurber : your sister sounds like she would like Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium. It has a deeper, bolder scent from what I remember. I remember smelling and thinking it was too cool for me haha. I went for the more floral scent of Ralph Lauren’s Tender Romance.

Always Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I think a 50ml bottle is around $90. It’s so classy and it’s something every woman should have.

I LOVE Cool Water by Davidoff. Have been wearing it for 17 years and do not consider it overly girly.

charlllpop : I was coming here to say decadence! The OH got me the perfume last Christmas and I love it.

Narcisco Rodriguez for Her – my own fave. It’s at the higher end of your budget, but a small spritz of it lasts for hours- but not over-poweringly so, so a bottle lasts quite a long time.

mrsthurber : I second PP my all time favorite perfume is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and I also like Dior Blooming Bouquet but that one is very floral. Davidoff cool water is very refreshing and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea is more citrusy as well.

mrsthurber : Versace Bright Crystal <3 citrusy and amazing

mrsthurber : Tresor by Lancome might fit the bill!
