My absolute favorite is Chance by Chanel. The green bottle, not the pink or orange! Definitely the green!

Burberry eau de parfum has a deeper scent to me and something I enjoy.

Juicy Couture eau de parfum is my ultimate favorite though…but it’s the opposite of spicy. It’s more subtle though and not overpowering which I personally like.

I also like Versace and got a lot of compliments on it from older women. It was either yellow diamond or the signature.

mrsthurber :  No real advice here (I wear flowerbomb by victor and Rolf but it’s pretty girly and floral) but just wanna say based on the description in your OP that your sister sounds SUPER cool. I didn’t even know there was such thing as luxury slippers!!

I’d get her a sample collection from LuckyScent http://www.luckyscent.com

super hip perfume boutique in LA. You can get her an assortment of high end designer scents and maybe a small gift card towards a bottle of her favorite. If you email the LuckyScent customer service address, they will help you choose which samples might work best. Put them in a nice little pouch and it would be a great gift.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say I’d probably look into other gift options. Maybe something cool from a vintage shop she can wear? My reason is that perfume is a super personal choice and everyone has vastly different tastes in what they like. Half of what my friends wear I don’t like and the other way around. Does she normally wear perfume? If not it’s pretty likely that she might not like certain smells.

I’m not one to wear perfume other than on special occasions (I work from home so it’s just not part of my daily routine) but when I do wear it I’m pretty picky. I like Prada “Candy” but one of my best friends doesn’t.

I like TokyoMilk a lot.

Tainted Love is my favorite, it’s a dark sexy vanilla/sandalwood but they have a ton of different scents and the packaging is very cool.

mrsthurber :  i’m basically an older (29 yo) version of your sister. if you live in nyc you should go to one of those places where you can create a custom scent! if that’s too much maybe go for something like a little box of lots of different wax and spray scents, so she can change it up!

http://www.pacificabeauty.com/perfume i love that brand.

http://lakeandskye.com/shop/fragrances/echo-lake/ this is a super hip scent too, and kind of an up and coming under the rader perfumery.

http://olofragrance.com/#fragrances these are awesome too and perfect for on the go city dwellers.

based purely on her demographics (i work in marketing) i’m guessing your sister is NOT the type to go for most of the really big designer name brands others are suggesting. just my two cents.

Former cosmetics lady here, I don’t recommend buying someone else perfume unless you know which one they wear. After Christmas and valentines we saw many returns in fragrance, often unsuccessful because of no reciepts. Some stores used to sell boxes with 10/12 samples with a gift certificate for one of the fragrances which were popular. Not sure if those still exist.

I personally use Chanel N19, Hermes, Dolce and Gabana, Versace, Tom Ford, etc. I personally use lots of perfume and wouldn’t reccomend the big name brands to your sister. For a 22 year old, I would suggest something more youthful. Marc Jacobbs is fine, but I find that too many people are using it. Maybe you should go try out Fresh Fragrances when you get a chance. They smell really good and youthful. It’s an American brand, and I think it’s quite reputable.

(Yes in comes in a spray bottle)

I liked Sake, it was quite different and surprisingly pleasant when I smelled it. There are other nice fragrances like rose and such. Go smell it out.
