There is nothing more relaxing to me than a glass of wine and Fiance and I watching our favorite shows on our oversized couch. However, with 4 weeks til the wedding I’m giving up drinking. This probably makes me an alcoholic for saying so lol, but nothing takes the edge off like a glass of red wine at the end of the day, personally!
I’ve tried yoga, I’m to ADD to really “get it”. Same with meditation. Herbal teas don’t really do much for me but taste good. I find the gym to be a decent stress relief, but I’m looking for something more. Something that helps me unwind. I’m admittedly very high strung!
So ladies, how do you destress/detox after a long day of work/wedding planning/life??

BurlapnLace: I find that besides exercise and wine, volunteering can be very helpful. It takes your mind off your own issues and you really see the world in perspective when you are helping those much more unfortunate than you.

I go to the gun range, archery range or the batting cages. I also have a few pieces of furniture I’m redoing, for those times when I don’t want to leave the house. For me, I have to have alone time and be at least somewhat physically active to take out any stresses.

I’m pretty ADD too…So I may not be much help haha. I tend to get bored after about 20-30 minutes of whatever activity I’m doing, so I find myself switching it up a lot.
But some things I like to do are read a book or magazine, take a bath (reminds me, I need to buy some bubbles!), I recently got into kickboxing which I really like, even just have a nap. I like to burn incense, sometimes just sit on the balcony with a tea, go for a walk with Darling Husband and last but not least, bake cookies or cupcakes 🙂

BurlapnLace: horseback riding is my go-to. It puts me in nature, gives me some exercise and takes the edge off of the fast pace of life.

BurlapnLace: 36 States have a BOW (becoming an outdoors woman) program. They offer free or extremely cheap gun classes and they supply everything. They give safety classes, certifications, and allow you to try different handguns, shot guns, rifles, or archery equipment, depending on your interests. It’s all geared for women and the classes are all with other women or alone. I would check to see if your state offers this program. I just came from a whole weekend camp with the BOW program. It was a blast.

BurlapnLace: i take a nice long walk and listen to an audiobook or go shopping (when it was that close to the wedding i’d go shopping for anything that was NOT wedding related and found it very soothing!) 🙂

I’m pregnant, so had to find alternative methods of end of day relaxation than wine on the couch with my hubby.
I like sparkling water with a bit of lime. It has a bite to it, since I don’t sweeten it, and so it doesn’t rev me up.
I also take a bath nearly nightly (though this is not a change from pre-pregnancy). I am a bath gal. I usually read a book or watch a TV show on my ipad that my husband doesn’t like and just let the warm bath relax me and soothe away the day. I realize that some people hate baths. I think they’re something that people either like or do not like, I’ve never met anyone who has a grey area opinion on them. I made a good bathtub a must when we were house hunting. If the master only had a shower, there was no way we were going to buy it.

Maybe you can do non-gym exercise. I feel different/better when I’ve gone on a run or bike ride compared with a stint on the elliptical. Another relaxation option would be eating. If you’re watching your weight, you could chow down on some veggies.

I do some of the things PPs list. I also like puzzles, sodoku, etc.

I say baths! Long ones. While binging on Netflix.
