I love Banana Republic for suits (ESPECIALLY their outlet stores) and Anne Taylor and J.Crew for for tops and sweaters.

In addition to all the stores mentioned above I also LOVE United Colors of Beneton for suit.  Their suits are cut in a very young and modern way so they are fun and flattering.  Great prices too.  If you have a Calvin Klein store near you check that out as well.  Great quality and they have sales all the time.

The above suggestions are all great places to look. A place that’s often overlooked is Maurices – they have an entire department devoted to “Wear at Work” and it has a pretty wide range from business casual to business professional (awesome suit sets!). If you don’t have one near you, you can always shop from their website too:)

I love Ann Taylor.

I find with their suits though, I’m different sizes between the pants/skirt and the jacket and a different cut for each size so be sure to try different sizes and even petite to get a more slim cut. I love their shirts for underneat suits too. Some are matronly but there are lot that aren’t.

Sign up for their mailings and you’ll get tons of 40% coupons and they always have sales going on. I hardly ever pay for anything full price there.

I love JCrew for casual clothes but sometimes I’ve found the quality lacking for work clothes. Some of the suits are great and some wrinkle after like 1 hour in them (which is super annoying to me).

I have had good luck finding suits that are a little different from the norm (and cheap!) at Kohl’s and JC Penny.

I have to wear a suit every work day, so I try to mix it up a little.  I’m not a fan of the plain jane suits.

I don’t know if you have one near you, but I’ve also had good luck finding “different” suits at Kasper.

Two words: CLUB MONACO.  Approximately 90% of my work wardrobe is from there.  I find their clothes flattering, long-lasting (in both materials and styles!), and it’s very classy but still young and stylish.  Everything from there goes with everything else from there too, so you don’t have to worry about having a skirt that only goes with one top.

Hope that helps!

Ann Taylor LOFT. Great prices, cute stuff, always having a sale, and their stuff just fits well. Express has cute clothes but I don’t think they are of excellent quality. I often find Banana Republic to be too expensive, but I do think they are worth it based on quality and cut (their petite section is awesome). I have a suit I love from Nordstrom, but I don’t really like shopping there because all of the sections of the store are so scattered and I’m never really sure where to look to find something, plus so much of their online items aren’t in stores anymore and I find that annoying.

What’s H&M (sorry) lol. I would also check out the New York and Comp. outlet. They had a much better sale than the stores do. Everything was buy one get one half off in the outlet. Not sure if you’re plus size or not but they do actually carry some cute plus size clothing. Smile
