Normally when he cooks, we have microwaved soup. Don’t get me wrong – I love not having to make anything myself. But that’s the bar he’s set. Tonight, he decided that he wanted steak, and it’s waaaaaaay too nasty outside to grill. We went and found recipes and bought all of the ingredients. I was all ready to make it, and he announced that he’d be cooking, since he was the one who wanted steak. So, he’s in the kitchen, making seared strip steak with a mushroom/red wine sauce and broiled asparagus. This is the same man who, 30 minutes ago, didn’t know where I kept the pans. I am way, way impressed. And the bar – it’s much higher now 🙂

Yay! My partner is an excellent cook… He always was, but he’s really stepped it up since we got married. He likes to eat and I’m usually working at dinner time.
I wonder if your finace knows that there’s no going back to blissful ignorance?! 🙂

Enjoy it! I love that my husband splits the cooking duties with me (and he’s not a soup guy).

@Mrs. DG – Oh yeah, there’s no going back. Prior to this, his most complicated meal was basically grilling burgers. I haven’t gotten to taste tonight’s offering yet, but the smell alone is intoxicating.
@IA_Snowflake – You’re a lucky lady! I have faith that my fiance could be a fantastic cook, but he’s not often motivated to go all-out.

I love when Mr. Scissors cooks. He makes me delicious German food. We love cooking together, but it makes me feel extra-special when he cooks for me by himself.

Mine is grilling two huge steaks as I type this.
I love a man that will stand in freezing weather to grill!!

Excellent! The Hubs is the main cook around our house. When I cook…it’s a Little Caesar’s “Hot and Ready” pizza night in our house!

@redherring – yep, he didn’t think this one through! 😉 Now he’ll have to choose his words a little more carefully if you’re figuring out dinner duties! Wishing you a lovely and yummy dinner in the burgh! Miss that place.

Sounds delightful! It’s great when they realize that they can do something they thought wasn’t their “thing” or was otherwise insurmountable.
Fiance is quite a good cook, but he’s always surprised when whatever he cooks turns out wonderful. Haha, I think I’m going to have him cook more often!

Yum! I found a Rachael Ray recipe with lemon juice, parsley, and worchesteshire that was really tasty! I think it had some white wine, too. I’m ditching mine to have dinner with a friend tonight…i made buffalo chicken chili last night though, so he’ll manage. =]

That’s awesome! Mr. S has become the cook in our house (I still clean mostly; the kitchen is now his domain, though, so he gets to do the dishes, too ;).
Food always tastes better when someone else does the work. 😉
