I’ve posted before that FI has no sense of style. He doesn’t really understand what’s appropriate to wear for what occasion or what looks good with what. Over the years, I’ve been trying to show him new things and get him to see how much better he looks when wearing clothes that fits. Well, today he started his first real people job that requires professional attire. He took me shopping with him this past weekend, but he picked everything pretty much on his own and I just said yes or try that with this instead. I’m so proud, he did really well!! He took some pictures when he got home and was trying to decide what to wear for his first day.
Here he is in a navy suit. This will probably be worn only when he has to make presentations or important people are coming. It’s an office position, so he won’t need to dress so formally everyday.
This is more what he’d be wearing on a regular basis; button up, collared shirt, tie, slacks or dress pants. He liked these pants on the hanger, tried them on and realized they were slim fit. Now he really likes slim fit pants. I’d already gotten him into more fitted dress shirts (they look better with his build. Less fitted shirts look too big), now the pants too and it was all his idea.
I’m just excited. Hopefully this progress will make finding his attire for the wedding easier. If you saw my last post about it, it was more than a little worrying. Usually, I buy him or pick out his dress clothes when we’re going to something with my family. They care much more about appropriate dress and looking presentable. His family is more, “Do what you want, be a special snowflake!” That he picked these out of his own and put two and two together to make it look good, is pretty darn fantastic. I’m a proud fiancee.
