Bees, please help me! I have an appointment in about 13 hours time for a hair cut and 3/4 head of foils… but I am going back and forth on what exactly to get done. It’s such a first world problem, I know, but I’ve put on quite a bit of weight recently and am feeling very self conscious so am way over thinking this.
At the moment I have medium brown hair which is quite fine and sits about halfway down my boobs. Originally, I was thinking I’d go for a lob and get a sort of ombre ash-blonde dye job (natural at the top, lighter towards the ends). My thinking was that I wanted a change, a bit less hair for styling (it’s summer here), and something low maintenance (i.e. colour that could grow out naturally rather than requiring frequent root touch ups).
But now I’m getting nervous. I like the way my longer hair breaks up my torso a little bit while I’m bigger and worry that a shorter style might make my face look chubbier? I also love getting home at the end of the day and throwing my hair up in a high bun to get it out of my way, but am wondering if I’ll even be able to get a good pony tail with a lob. I put a lot of heat on my hair to style it (GHD curls or straightening, as it has a weird texture otherwise that I just can’t handle) and am also worried that going blonde on the ends might be a bad idea for this reason? Also, waves seem to be an essential style for this type of cut and colour, and I have yet to master them…
Does anyone have any thoughts about this or advice? Recommendations for colour? I know I’m being a bit silly, but I’m just feeling really down and self conscious at the moment and I know if I don’t like what I end up with then I’ll be quite upset. Paying extra attention to my hair and make-up is the only thing helping me leave the house right now while I’m struggling with my body image. A bit sad, I know. I’m working on it.
Here are a couple of inspiration pics I’ve been thinking about. For reference, I’m fair skinned with blue eyes and cool undertones.
