Hi bees, I just had to vent! I know this is totally NWR but…
I am trying to buy a new transmission for my 92 Mitsubishi Eclipse. My mechanic called around and Midway claimed they had one that would work. They gave a good price because I guess they do their own rebuilding, so I didn’t mind driving from central PA to NJ in my truck and paying for tolls. Still a great price! Unfortunately maybe you get what you pay for :/
I brought home a transmission that was definitely NOT for my Mitsu! My mechanic even attempted to try and found that everything was for the wrong side. Both of us have called Midway back. Midway claimed the trans came out of an Eagle Talon so it “should” fit because basically they are the same car. THAT STILL DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE COMPLETELY TRANSFERABLE! The Talon is to the Mitsubishi as the Jimmy was to the Blazer. NOT THE EXACT SAME VEHICLE. To top it all off, the transmission was labeled for a Hyundai. WTF? I was told that “I can’t go by the labels, I have to go by whether it fits or not.” Bottom line, if you claim you pulled it out of an Eagle Talon, why would you label it a Hyundai?!?
Now, we are trying to get this fixed. My invoice says the transmission is for a 91-92 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Obviously, the actual transmission is not. I was told the only thing they can do (by the manager, who was pretty short with me even though I have been nothing but patient and polite, no snark or sarcasm) is drive back to NJ with the transmission and they’ll refund me. For the transmission only. The gas and tolls from the time to pick it up and bringing it back this time is almost as much as the transmission! I tried to calmly explain this and that I was hopeful we could work something out. I was told a flat no.
Seriously? You promised me a Mitsubishi transmission, SENT ME HOME WITH SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT, and are only willing to fix half of your mistake? No, no no no no.
I am not making a direct accusation here because somehow things may work themselves out in the end, but I can’t help but wonder who else they may have done this to. How many people do they send home with wrong parts, maybe hoping that they can’t be bothered to bring them back for a refund?? Maybe that’s just my fury talking. It’s only speculation but believe me, I am not done trying to get this resolved!
