I own a smaller SUV (Saturn Vue) that we can use to move most stuff we need to. DH’s next vehicle (he currently drives a Mitubishi Eclipse) will be a 4-door pickup. We also have friends that drive pickups.

LOL, I had to read your post to figure out what you meant by truck. Where I’m originally from (rural Kansas)…

    This is a “pickup”:

We own a Ford E-150 now so it’s a work van for FI’s plumbing business.  It’d be great to load things in.  FI’s grandfather owns a monster of a truck.

ETA: I’m not really surprise that someone living in NYC doesn’t know anyone that drives a large vehicle as that.

@abbyful:  I thought she meant “truck” like 18 wheeler! lol.

My Fiance actually moves people for a living.  If we ever needed to move, we would wait for a time when he is off the road and borrow a smaller moving truck from his company he works for to move us.  We definitely don’t have enough for a semi!

If we didnt have this option though, I would borrow a pickup truck.

We have a pick-up, a truck to me is a big industrial truck.

A lot of people here have pick-up’s or SUV’s, but I can see that not being the case in NYC.

It’s so funny how people hear a word and think different things! I pictured a pick-up when you asked ‘truck’ because that’s what we call them where I live..trucks! There are just all different sizes. I never hear anyone call them pick-ups?

But to answer your question, yes, my SO does drive a truck. It’s an F-250 and huge. I drive an SUV.  But we also don’t live in a heavily populated area like NYC.

Darling Husband had an F-150 but got something more gas friendly since he doesn’t need the truck for work.  If we need to move furniture we use his mom’s b/f’s trailer.   I came from the big city and when we needed to move things my dad usually had a mini-van and what didn’t fit IN it fit ON top of it.

Fiance drives an F150 and I drive a Nissan Xterra. We’re big car/truck people- we have too much crap, and are going to have too many babies for a Focus haha 🙂

@Mrs_Amanda:  It could also be because of the economy/gas prices.  I know a lot of people who “downgraded” – so to speak because the gas money was hurting their pocket.

I’ve only heard the term “pick up truck” used a few times, and it always sounds so hillbilly to me, which I guess is ironic because I live in the country. They’re trucks where i’m at, you drive a truck, a car, a SUV or a van lol Like 90% of my town has a truck (pick up)!

When we need to move stuff, we either use our pick up or a one of our trailers pulled behind our jeep or suv. Just sort of depends on what we’re moving. Although quite a few people we know have borrowed our truck/trailer for moving things or picking up new furniture! I don’t know what we’d do without our truck though. We’re always moving firewood or stones or something.

No, we do not have trucks.

    This is what I drive:

and this is what my husband drives:

Although we do have a small car that we use occasionally, we do not have any trucks.  We do have several friends that we can call upon if we need a truck, though, so it’s not a big deal.
