blushblossom91:  I don’t understand — is the in-law’s trip a family vacation that you and your husband are going on too? So when you go for your anniversary, it will be the second time in a short period? Or is this just their vacation that they are going on?

My in-laws legit found out my husband and I were taking a babymoon before our son was born and booked the same vacation AT THE SAME TIME. The worst part was we didn’t find out about it until we got off the plane and over to our resort. They genuinely thought it would be a nice surprise, I was ready to kill someone. Needless to say it was not the romantic getaway I had hoped for. So, it could be worse. Don’t let this steal your joy. You’re finally going on your dream vacation, so look forward to that.

I would probably feel the same way but also know its silly.

I would suggest minimal contact with them so they cant go telling you all about it and showing you all their awesome photos. If they did that then yeah it might take something away from your trip. But it also might make you more exited to go!

Just look forward to your own, and enjoy it 🙂

prettynewpenny:  whoa, they actually did that?!?! Could they see the steam coming out of your ears when they saw you guys for the first time? I would have not been able to hide my anger.

It is one of those things that is very petty, but still really easy to be annoyed with. Keep your next set of vacation plans to yourself.

blushblossom91:  Thanks, this is all very amusing! You know you’re being petulant but you’ll get over it. I wouldn’t bother feeding into it if your in laws are into games.

gingerkitty:  I handled it surprisingly well and just raged to my husband in private haha. Truthfully though, I was livid. I think my eye twitched constantly the entire week we were on vacation. My in-laws are well meaning and very nice, but they have severe boundary issues. It’s gotten better because my husband keeps telling them that we love them, but we are our own family unit and we need our space and privacy. So I’m hopeful.  Plus, we moved 45 minutes away haha.

Eventually I’m going to Disneyworld, and I may very well stay at the wilderness lodge and get reservations at Cinderella’s castle *gasp*

In the mean time, if it makes you feel better, I go to Disneyland once or twice a month.

If my ILs “copied” a vacation idea I had, it’d be a little weird, but whatever. And off peak Disney is better than peak Disney.

blushblossom91:  So this trip changes nothing about your actual experience going to Disney with your husband…

blushblossom91:  My kids and parents went to Italy before I did. It didn’t diminish the experience for me one iota, nor did I see them as stealing my upcoming vacation plans. Let it be and enjoy your trip.

As Elsa says – Let It Go.

Honestly, that’s one of those things that would not bother me.  I’d be happy they had such good taste.
