Hello ladies! I just wanted to take a moment to update all of you on my journey. I deeply appreciate your thoughts and offers to chat, so I thought you might want to know how things have gone forward! 🙂
I spoke with a few religious leaders and made a few visits to temple, for both religious service and a social event. The people were positively WONDERFUL (so welcoming and open!) but ultimately, I found the fit wasn’t quite right for me. While I loved the overall feel, and the traditions/ceremonies, I still couldn’t quite reconcile that with my uncertainty about God. I just couldn’t feel entirely comfortable with “declaring” a belief in God and that God is an all-knowing being. However, my (very meaningful) discussions with a rabbi and others, have pointed me toward another denomination that I think may be better suited.
I’m now currently exploring Unitarian Universalists; from my understanding thus far, the UU shares everything I found so wonderful about the Reform Judaism faith and culture, but with an more open understanding of God, atheism, and agnosticism.
Again, thank you to all of you who were so eager to help me with this exploration of faith!
