@rosered879:  I think it might depend a little bit on the field you are in. I’m in an arts field, so I try to add a little color in when I’m wearing mostly neutrals. But I’m not sure if the same would apply in other fields.

I have this in a greenish-teal color that is my go to under black suit shirt. Its a nice, light-weight material, not low cut, and a little bit longer. Its not tight, minus if I want it to be around the waist. I got it at Target.

How about a silky type blouse or something really amazing yet sophisticated but not button down lol. Do you have a favorite store to shop at for worky stuff like The Limited, Gap or Macys etc?

A nice camisole top could be nice, and let you get across some personality, provided it’s modest and understated.

I find the plain button-down in an interview pretty boring.

@ProfessorGirl:  agreed!

Silk shell or camisole in a nice color should do the trick.

I usually go for a loose fitting silky, satiny or cotton top so that I am comfortable. I also go for a pop of colour, usually pink or blue. The tops I choose usually have the draping neck lines like this:

Old Navy has some cute things right now (I’m always broke, so I shop at the cheap places!)

I would go for a patterned, colored shirt for under a solid black suit. However, I do tend to dress in BRIGHT colors! 🙂

I also tend to do tops with cowl necks or ruffles at the neckline… just to add a little interest

Maybe something like one of these?

Or if you don’t like patterns… Then maybe solid ones, like these?

I definitely prefer patterned ones, but that’s just me.  If I was going to wear a solid one, I might fancy it up with a long necklace or something 🙂
