Oh goodness. Well let me go the opposite way of the post so that I can end on a good note. (((hugs))) It’s so sad when someone passes at such a young age. feeling sad is understandable, but it’s ok for you to feel happy too

CONGRATS!!! I am so glad that you have found a job! What will you be doing?

I’m so sorry to hear you had to go through this today; how tragic…

I know you’re feeling rather down, but congratulations on your new position. That’s very exciting. πŸ™‚

So sorry to hear about the death. πŸ™ Such a young age.

Congratulations on the job though.

I can only imagine how you (and the sister) must feel.  My brother is 18 and graduating on the 16th.  I don’t know what I’d do if something like that happened to him.  My heart breaks for all family and friends.

You can’t feel guilty though.  It’s an unfortunate tragedy, but there’s nothing you can do about it.  I understand why you’re feeling the way you are and I’m not trying to come off snarky.  The best you can do is be there for your friend even if you’ve lost touch awhile ago.  -hugs-

@Potatoes: D’aw.  That really must be tough then. πŸ™  I really wish there was more I could say to do and/or help.

Oh, I’m so sorry. You know, even if you’re not as close as you used to be, this might be a good time to reach out to her. Often, when people have loved ones die (especially when it’s unexpected or untimely), the people around them don’t know what to do, or are afraid of doing the wrong thing, so they end up feeling isolated and alone.

Who knows, maybe nothing would come of it, but there’s pretty much no downside to reaching out, telling her how devasted you were at the news, and that you care about her.

@Potatoes: Oh, of course not. It sounds like you did absolutely the right thing. I didn’t realize you’d already been in touch with her about it.
