I’ve seen a lot of “acne help” threads lately, so I figured I’d share…
After a couple really bad weeks of breakouts that wouldn’t go away, I decided to do an overhaul of my daily makeup routine. I’ve always had hormonal/cycstic/stress acne prone skin that seemed to be out of control a few weeks from my wedding.
It’s ridiculous how much my skin has improved by switching to Bare Minerals. Does anyone else use their products? Their foundations are incredible. You can customize your coverage from sheer to full, they have something for every skin type and their in store staff is knowlegable and friendly without being pushy (at least the one in my local mall is like that). They also carry it at Sephora and Ulta, and online.
At the same time I switched, my amazingly generous Maid/Matron of Honor sent me a box of Proactiv with face wash, toner and serum. Using that in tandem with the new makeup has quite literally given me a new face. I’ve only been using this wonder combo for about 2 weeks but the difference is unbelievable. A few days ago something was begining to surface that simply didn’t and is now gone. For me, this change is huge!
The one draw back personally is my skin is now very dry because it’s so sensitive. I’m going to start combatting that with coconut oil at night.
Anyway, completely random post but I’ve had such great results lately, I just had to share! Here is a link to the Bare Minerals site, but I would recommend going to a consultant first if you have a store in your area 🙂 http://www.bareescentuals.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-BareEscentuals-Site/default/Home-Show?brandId=BM&cm_mmc=google-semsearch-_-Brand_Other_CoreBrand_BM-_-bareMinerals%20-%20Alone%20-%20Exact-_-bare%20minerals&gclid=Cj0KEQjw_byiBRCu9qm5lc28ufgBEiQAWq-tawIFskhBCaurtJzMq0qiRh3H2BBu7nhcc5JL0IDiQmoaAlLq8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

BurlapnLace: I’ve used Bare Minerals for almost 8 years. I also worked for them a couple of years ago. I have very sensitive, dry skin, and I swear by their foundation. I also use their facial cleansers and moisturizers. When I worked for them, I pretty much used all of their skincare products (serums, neck creams, eyes creams, etc.), because I got them for free/very cheap, but they’re a little pricey for me now. 😉
For anyone interested in trying their products, I would also recommend going to a Bridesmaid or Best Man boutique and getting a consultation (don’t go to Ulta or Sephora for a consultation, their employees are not necessary BM-trained). They will customize products for you and teach you how to apply everything, including skincare. Consultations are free, a good Bridesmaid or Best Man rep will not push you to buy the products.
I’ve never used Proactiv because I don’t have acne, but for dryness, coconut oil can sometimes make it worse (sounds weird, I know). Aloe vera oil (not gel) is great for the face as it’s a very light oil, absorbs quickly and will not leave you greasy. I also like grapeseed and sweet almond oils for moisturizing. Also, Bare Minerals’ Purely Nourishing Cream for dry skin is ahhmazing.

bbbria: Thanks for that! I’m completely in love with Bridesmaid or Best Man now. I’m slowing starting to integrate all their products into my makeup kit. Totally broke with the wedding so close, but when I was in over the weekend there was this great kit for $58 I would have gotten – I just said to my Fiance, “Christmas?” 🙂
You’re right about a rep not being pushy. The product is so good, it sells itself. I’m really happy to have found it!

I’m glad you found your right combo. Proactiv destroyed my skin, and bare minerals is way too drying for me. But if it works for you, that’s all that matters. 🙂

BurlapnLace: I LOVE Bare Minerals. I swear I have been wearing it for almost 20 years now. I have so much of their stuff and have gone from their makeup to their skin care.
It has cleared up so many of my skin issues (acne/rosacea) and kept them at bay. I’ve got all my friends on it and cleared up their issues, one with severe acne- now gone!
I do love their new liquid foundation serum for my aging skin and use a combo. Love it!
I am 46 years old and always get complements on my porcelain skin. (sorry for the glare of the flash)

lovekiss: Try their new foundation serum. It leaves your skin so soft and dewy.
