I’m taking a different route and making a dress for an upcoming Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  It’s the only Christmas-related shindig I’ll be going to this year and I’m going to rock it!  I found a bow dress on pinterest that I’m using for inspiration.  My dress will be covered in bright shiny red, gold, silver, and green bows and I’m also making a hair piece with a giant green bow.  I found the perfect cardigan to match too.  I’ll update when I get it finished but here’s the inspiration:

@SpecialSundae:  LOVE the neckline on the first one!

I am just about to put this on to go to my husband’s Christmas party:

The top has a pretty, subtle swiss dot pattern 🙂

Oooh fun! I’m excited to see all the dresses!

Mine is similar to this, but has a thin, red belt and black lace trim on the bottom. Wearing it to DH’s work party tomorrow!

How is everyone accessorizing? I was thinking of doing black opaque tights and black pumps or flats. Not sure on jewelry yet.

@iheartmarshall:  I love tacky Christmas sweater parties!  And the bow idea is so cute. I did one before where you took a black sweater, and a set of battery operated mini lights and poked the lights through the sweater in holidays shapes.  It came out cute, but I may have to borrow the bow idea for my next one lol.

@SpecialSundae:  For the first one, I think some bold earrings, and possibly a cuff or bracelet would be good. Even something in a jewel tone (like emerald or sapphire colored) that contrasts and complements. With the second one, more intricate designs would be pretty. I always struggle with shoes to go with a red dress. Sometimes red is too “matchy” but other colors don’t look right either. Undecided

Disclaimer: I am currently wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, which is a daily uniform for me. I’m just suggesting what I think would go well, but I could be waaaay off base or off your style.

I’m failing at attempting to make my own dress this year. I have started sewing with a sewing machine recently and am using my very first pattern… So far, I can definitely tell it is a dress, and that it *should* fit right.

@SpecialSundae:  I’ve seen your recaps… girl, your style is fabulous. That’s why I’m so timid to give you advice Embarassed

I’m having a little trouble telling the colors on my screen. Is the first one red and the second orange? I like the idea of chandelier earrings with #2, and that much black is completely doable for a holiday party.

@beachchicbride:  Ooooh good luck! I love that style! What are you using for fabric? I do some sewing, but I mostly stick to cotton projects because I haven’t had good luck with anything stretchy. Is it hard?
