DH is all of 5’9″, while I am 6′ and built like a football player. I generally wear flats because I cant walk in heels period. But I also don’t want to make DH feel small.
So I found these gorgeous knee high boots, they make my ski-boat sized feet look pretty and dainty and make my hulking calves not so…hulking. But the problem? 3″ heels. So I would be well over 6 inches taller than DH in these boots. So to my fellow Amazons, whats a girl to do? Do you wear shoes that make you tower over DH? I love these boots but dang 6 inches is a lot. I would be able to see over his head.

My fiancé and I are the same height, so I will be wearing flats for the wedding. My shoes won’t really be seen anyway, and it’s comfortable. 🙂

I wear whatever shoes I want. DH is about 5’6″-7″ish and I’m 5’9″. I don’t know where this stigma came from that the man should be taller than the woman in a relationship, but I for one think it is ridiculous. He’s shorter than me every day of our lives, why does it matter if I’m a few more inches taller because of my shoes?

I wear the shoes that match my outfit and are appropriate for what we are doing.
If that means jeans/blouse/sweater/heels for a date- then I’m doing it.
I 150% agree with Pixiecat- that’s a rubbish tradition. Wear waht you want- if he is so insecure that you’re taller than he is in heels – then maybe you need to have a conversation- that level of insecurity is absurd.

My fiancé and I are almost the same height (around 5’9). I really dislike most heels because I canbot walk in them! I do wear some boots with a 2 inch heel. My fi doesn’t like it when I look much taller than him. I don’t really care. However I do care about his feelings, so I don’t really go over 2 inch heels. Just what we do. If you love those boots then rock them!!! Don’t let silly tradition bother you.

My Fiance is a shorty (5’6) and I’m 5’9. I don’t go out of my way to not wear heels. I tend to not like wearing them because I don’t like having sore feet, but our height differences has never stopped me from wearing heels.

My Fiance and I are the same height – I may even be a smidge taller and I regularly rock heels.
My tallest pair being 5 inches – he doesn’t give a shit and neither do I.

I guess I just realized this was Not Wedding Related. Yeah I wear heels sometimes, neither of us care about height, generally. But for our wedding I’d like for us to be the same height 🙂

Well, my SO is 5’6 with shoes on and I’m 6’0 bare-footed, so unless HE’S the one wearing heels we are never going to be the same height or even appear the same height! It doesn’t bother me, and he loves that I’m so tall. I don’t wear pumps but I do wear heeled boots and wedges. Go for it, those boots sound awesome!

DH is 5’11 and I am 5’9 so im not really taller except with heels . I know for me I’m most comfortable when I’m not towering over him . It’s all in how you will feel walking next to him in those shoes . If it bothers you other times then don’t do it just a waste of money , but if not rock it ! I want to see the shoes ! Lol

Is your Fiance okay with the height difference when you wear heels? Might want to run it by him and see what he’s comfortable with.
My Fiance doesn’t care about our height difference at all (I’m 3 inches taller) but I dislike wearing heels so I never do.

Nope! Im going with a 2.5 inch heel. I’m 5’9” and my fiance is 5’10 or 11′. We will be about the same height. I think we are planning to look for a shoe that will give him a little bit of height too. I don’t think he wants me to be taller than him that day.

I’m 5’10. He’s 5’8. He says he doesn’t care about height difference so I wear what I want. But for the most part I don’t wear heels because I just don’t like to wear them. I will be wearing jeweled flat sandals on our wedding day.

I’m 5’11” to his 5’9″ and I love wearing heels! Although for our wedding I stuck to wearing only 2.5″ heels for my own comfort throughout the night. In general, DH enjoys my height, and I think we look pretty nice together even when I’m towering over him 😉
You do you, girl.

I love wearing heels and when I do, I’m about four inches taller than him. He loves it! Think of all the men who go out with models, the models are always tall, so the men are often shorter than their wives. Its not a bad thing to be included in with that group!
