“Rumor” has it that Lil Wayne was knocking dark skin women http://theurbandaily.com/Rumors/shamika-sanders/lil-wayne-disrespects-woman/
Of course he denies it, but it’s even in one of his song lyrics.
Some asian doctor or whatever wrote a blog called “Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other WomenThe article was pulled (it shouldn’t have gone up in the first place) You can still read it here http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3412493but you have to register. I have the PDF on my phone if anyone wants it emailed to them. Just send me a message.
Why is it that we get so much flack from the media and these so called black men?

Wow I think that’s crazy!
I know that African American women have the BEST skin on EARTH!!!! so not fair! They’re beautiful their whole life… us white/well I’m half hispanic… wrinkle and sag when we’re middle aged… so so so not fair!
I think that these men are definitely faulted in their view! for sure!

I would love for you to PM that PDF.
Honestly, I have no clue why black women get so much flack. I will be honest, I do hear about it, not very frequently, but still often enough that it is disturbing. It’s funny though because black men usually are rated highly attractive amongst most woman I know. So I’m not sure if its just a gender thing or not. Mind you, I live in a smallish community where black woman are very hard to come by, so maybe it is just that they are not as well recognized, and they have that “unknown” factor, as terrible as that sounds.
Personally, I absolutely love the way that black people look. I do not mean to sound offensive to non blacks, as I am one myself, but generally I find the black population more attractive. I love their skin color, features, bodies overall more than any other race.

@Miss Tattoo: If it’s any comfort, the same man who wrote that absurd piece has also written posts with titles like “Are All Women Essentially Prostitutes?” and “Why modern feminism is illogical, unnecessary, and evil.”
So, um, I think he’s an outlier. An enormous, racist, sexist douche, but still an outlier.
Still, your overall point about the devaluing of darker skin in our culture is right on, and it PISSES ME OFF.

I agree that there is a higer value placed on lighter skin, and often worldwide. . . not just black people in America, but Indian people and even east Asian people can be color obsessed, thinking that closer to ‘white’ is better.
i think hair is also a big thing that separates black women from non-black women physically and honestly, if you are a ‘hair guy’ where the thing you fantasize about most is long silky tresses swinging in your face, then you probably won’t be attracted to 90% of black women, at least in their natural state.
however i think black women tend to have other attributes that to a lot of guys are just as sexy. . .legs, butt, toned arms, full lips, etc.
i think it is important to socialize our sons to see these attributes as desirable. becuase to some extent i think people are innately attracted to certain qualities, but to some extent I think it is a matter of socialization. for example, there is no biological reason why long hair should be fetishized more than full lips. . .they are both biological suggestions of youth and fertility. . .but our culture places a higher premium on one and not the other.

It’s also important to recognize that that doctor misrepresented the data. Check out the “academic criticism” section of the wiki article on him:
It’s clear that this guy is just a racist who is trying to use science as a fig leaf for his prejudices. Luckily, other scientists are calling his bullshit.

This is all caused by ignorance, and theres really nothing to do for people who hold these views.

@hellorebecca: For years and years, I wished I had full lips, and hair with some texture or curl. What did I have? Long, straight, silky-fine hair. I swear, women always want the opposite of what they have! I also hated my super-pale skin. I would have killed to have skin that tanned or wasn’t too light for even “pale” foundation.
@Miss Tattoo: Lil Wayne should be smacked upside the head. What a stupid jerk.

@hellorebecca: True. I have natural hair and get “looks” from some men and I just laugh. At least if I wanted them (I got my SO) they’d know what to expect if they have a daughter, since they are so hair obsessed. My hair is quite curly and I’m sure once it grows to my shoulders, the “looks” will turn to admiring glances. Dummies.
I think about that often: how almost everyone-Hispanic, Indian,Asian, etc have some kind of “Lighter” is better view. It’s strange.

Uggghhh I HATE hearing stuff like this. I am white, but by NO means do I think I look better than any woman shape color or size! And further more I think black women have THEEEE MOST beautiful skin on the planet!!!!!!!! Why on Earth would anyone suggest they are the “least attractive” is beyond me! And why anyone would say whiter is better is another thing beyond me! I think women with dark skin are so beautiful and only wish my Irish/fair skin could tan! lol Don’t get me wrong, I think pale skine is beautiful as well. But I’m just the type of girl who see’s beauty in all & really think more people should as well!

I read that article. I also heard about a documentary called “Dark Girls” that is coming out soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXG38QxXY-s
@MsMamaBear: I used to get WTF looks from other AA when I first went natural, and only got compliments from non-blacks (or other AAs who were natural). I never understood why people would have an issue with my natural hair, but they don’t have an issue with other races natural hair.

My two sisters are natural. My little sister has beautiful hair! She gets compliments all the time. I tried to go the natural route and I just couldn’t get the hang out of it. I looked like a crack head. ha ha ha.

@trugem: True. My white coworkers said it was cute, but the black ones didn’t say much. I think they are afraid of it to tell you the truth.

I’ve always envied AA women for their hair and skin, OH and their awesome gift of BOOTY! I’ve always loved the tight curls! I used to baby sit a girl (her mom was white and her dad was AA) and she was the most gorgeous little girl EVER! Olive Skin, Green Eyes and BLONDE tightly curled, poofy hair! We loved playing with her hair and she’s grown to love it too!=) I think like all women we have our own self insecurities, but its these DOUCHES like this that are essentially missing out!
I hope this doesnt come off wrong: Does anyone think that AA women are known to not “put up with $hit” as often!? Maybe they are known to have less “tolerance” for “shenanigans” in a relationship. But I guess that can differ from person to person not just race!
All in all I think you AA women are BEAUTIFUL && STRONG!

My daughter is half black and if anyone tried to call her ugly there’d be some asses getting kicked. My FI’s entire family is beautiful and there skin ranges from very dark to almost white. Of course, my Fiance chose me – a white girl – but he has dated black women in the past. For him it was more about personality than race. There will always be close-minded people so I’m going to teach my daughter to rise above the negativity and be happy as she is.
