That is so sad…. God help these people. I am glad that the girl seems to know what Christianity is about.

There were rumors they were going to come up here for Laramie Project showing. It was a big debacle, but it did let me learn about the angel walk that people do. They make HUGE angel wings and surround the WBC (and sometimes sing) so they cover their signs and block their shouts.
I also learned about the Patriot Guard Riders, formed to protect the families of fallen veterans during their son’s or daughter’s funeral. Very awesome.
And, lastly, do NOT visit the WBC website. If you want to learn more about their sick messages and such, learn from wikipedia and other online sources. If you go to their direct WBC page, they make $$, which is not something I’d like to support and I try to let others know that, too. Ugh. They are just hateful people.

I wish these people would walk their talk. Seriously. How can you preach such hate in the name of love?

Yea, this is really disturbing. The Dad talked as if he has a stone heart…absolutely no emotion in his face. So sad. 🙁

I think that in itself is ludicrous enough, but to think it’s a joke!?
Perhaps I am a bad person for saying this, but these people don’t need to exist. If they just, disappeared off the face of the earth one day, very few tears would be shed.

I am not going to say what I really think about these morons because it will most likely get me banned. we have had to deal with these idiots in my area twice first they were protesting a military funeral and now the father of the soldier has to pay their court costs (I dont know if this one made the news everywhere but it went all the way to the supreme court and of course they got to hide behind the first amendment) then they were protesting at a high school here because of the number of gay students, these people need to be dealt with. I hope they all rot in hell. I just do not get it you are never tought hate. god does not hate

for the OP They totally got the message wrong… God loves people but hates SIN… not because it goes “against” Him but because it keeps us for His best for us… hurts us.. and has us in position to hurt others
And they also totally got the whole “casting out of the church” wrong too… b/c when that is called to happen the person “cast out” is to then be treated as a “pagan or unbeliever”…. seeing how Jesus treated those that weren’t in the “church” and you’ll see that they were LOVED… Jesus ate with them, and loved them, and did NOT judge them. He judged the “church” calling them liars and snakes because they refused to look at THEMSELVES… not those that hadn’t known
That kind of deception is terrible to see b/c they’ve definitely missed the message and don’t know Jesus =(

I grew up in a church like this. It hit really hard watching this girl’s story but I can say as I aperson who chose to walk away too being “kicked out” by those kind of people was the best thing to ever happen to me. I left first but my family did end up following me (well my mom and younger brother, but not my dad). I cringe when I see these kind of things because I know the darkness that is in all of those people’s eyes.
I now go to a Catholic church after refusing to ever go back for many years and honestly it was a teacher (who is a Deacon at the church) convinced me to go by doing the exact opposite of what these people do. He was accepting of me an my views and said “There are many pathways to the same god. Just because we interpret things differntly doesnt mean we are wrong or right, just different.”
All that being said the most commonly occuring phrase in the bible is “Be not afraid.” A church that runs on fear does go against god if you look at it that way.

These people make me absolutely sick. And the fact that they are teaching their children to hate other groups of people makes me want to scream. Kids don’t understand what it means to be gay or what different religions are and their parents are practically brainwashing them to believe exactly what they want them to rather than teach them to have morals and think for themselves.
