I’m on the fence about this necklace…. I bought it to give to my SIL for Christmas, but I’m having second thoughts (because I think jewelry can be so subjective).
But, I’ve decided I’m going to go with what the hive says… 🙂
Here are more details about the piece:
Finely textured discs quiver and dance on a delicate bead-chain necklace.
- Lobster clasp closure.
- Approx. length: 28″ with 3″ extender.
- Approx. disc drop: 1/2″.

It’s not my style, but if your SIL wearing jewelry similar to that I think she’d love it. Heck, I’d probably wear it even if I wouldn’t pick it out myself.

Jewelry is so subjective. It’s not my personal taste but you have to judge by what you think your SIL would like.

Personally, I wouldn’t wear it. It’s not my style. But if it is similar in style to other things she wears, you’re probably okay.

It’s something that I would wear. I have one similar actually.

I love it and would totally wear it. You’re right about jewelry being subjective, though!

I’m not a fan. It reminds me of the coins belly-dancers wear around their hips.

You really have to think about what your sister in law likes. Does she wear jewelry like this often? Could you picture her wearing this? Personally, it’s not my style, though if I got it as a gift I might throw it on every once in a while. Jewelry is subjective, but I find that I can usually pick it out for a person if I know them (and their style) well.

If she has jewelery of similar proportions then I say go for it.
My necklaces are always daintier and shorter so this would be really hard for me to ever fit into any outfit, but I can easily imagine a different sort of person rocking it.

Thanks for the input, everyone… I just scoured my computer for pics of my SIL as well as stalked the few pictures she has on FB…. guess what I discovered – NO necklace-wearing AT ALL.
Time to scrap this gift and go back to the drawing board for her!

I like it 🙂 Like other PP said, if you have seen her wear this kind of jewelry, its fine 🙂

i think it’s simple enough for anyone with any taste could wear. it’s cute!

@oracle: That sounds like a good idea.
But another thing to consider with long necklaces like that is boobs. If someone gave me a necklace like that I wouldn’t wear it because it would look so awkward due to my breast size.

Not my personal style, but you know your SIL’s taste better than we do :). Since it sounds like she doesn’t wear necklaces often, you’re probably better with a gift other than jewelry. Does she like to cook or bake? Usually can’t go wrong with some nice kitchen accessories.

I just saw that you’ve scrapped the necklace idea and are going with something else. I’d recommend getting her something you know she’d like.
