This memory just popped into my head: when I worked in a bakery in college, this woman would frequently come in to chat with us. I think she was lonely. Anyway, I mentioned that I was thinking about becoming a teacher, and she said, “Well you know what they say, those who can’t do, teach.”
And even though she is not a personal friend of mine, and even though she said it casually and meant nothing by it, I think that’s the most insulted I’ve ever been. The sentiment itself is insulting, of course, but she just got under my skin.
Anyone else want to share? I realize it’s not the most positive thread to start…so we could do, like, X-Files pictures instead! (I know what’s popular, mmmkay?)

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice: I was thinking the same thing, lol. 🙂

Hands down, when my SIL asked if Darling Husband and I would ever consider going on ‘The Biggest Loser’. It took every ounce of self restraint that I had to not punch her in the face. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.

I was overly insulted on another wedding webstie- and on a certain post even on this site about being imature and stupid… I’m not even going to bring up what was said.
My FI’s family called me a prude beacuse I changed my outfit before going out to dinner ( In Las Vegas. I’d worn shorts in the day and wanted to change into something nice- appearently it mde me a stuck up prude.)
Also anyone who knows me knows if you call me immature or a drama queen its like the biggest thing you can say to piss me off!

@Sunfire: Haha awesome! I’m still thinking… lol

Oh, probably my mother telling me during a post-wedding “discussions” that I married my husband because he is “handsome and charming”. Which is true, but the implication was that there was nothing else to him, and that I married for shallow reasons. *quiet rage*

I have intestinal issues that make me bloated at time and very painful, I can’t count how many times people have asked me ” how far along are you ” ” do you know what your having” “is the baby’s room set up” ugh… You get the idea it’s a self confidence killer.

@peachacid: She didn’t even get the saying right, don’t worry about it, haha!
@UpstateCait: That is beyond rude!
Mine isn’t so bad (either that or my memory sucks, which it does). Someone called me selfish once and – although I was probably being a bit selfish at the time – it really stung. I can’t think of anything else that’s been upsetting enough to remember.

@MrsHoneyC: Ugh. EFF people who ask pregnancy questions. Unless you see babies coming out of me, keep your mouth shut!

It’s so common, but dumb blonde jokes. Stupid high school boys used to tell them to me all the time. But “dumb blondes” don’t graduate high school second in their class AND a year early.
That or anything pertaining to my size and how much I eat. I’m 5’3 and a hundred-something pounds. I don’t look sickly or anything; I’m just built small, but my grandma seems to think it means I have to starve myself.

years ago. .
I’ve always struggled with my weight. I went back to visit some coworkers at my old job and one of them said
“oh, I see you’re managing to keep your weight down.”
and she didn’t mean it as a compliment

I can’t even think of anything that was really bad.
– In middle school, I had a favorite pair of pants that I wore every day. One of the popular girls “took pity” on me and told me that it looked bad and she’d bring me some of her old clothes because I obviously needed them. I smiled and told her that that would be awesome. She never did bring them.
– My FI’s ex stalked me for a long time after they broke up and told me that my eyebrows were too thin and that my nose was crooked. No shit, really? I hadn’t noticed, looking in the mirror every day. I told her that if that was the worst she could come up with, she should just give up already, and that I could insult her better in my sleep. She tried to laugh at my new glasses that I posted a picture of, too; too bad her own glasses were old lady ones and severely crooked (also, buck teeth).

Now that I think of it, it was probably something my dad said. I can’t remember exactly what it was because I block out negative things like that (it’s a gift), but I do remember screaming at him on the phone – “You are wrong! You don’t even know me, you don’t know anything about me!” And I was in my 30’s at the time. He’s a prince, yeah.

A ex told me that I was ” boring”, which is why he felt the need to send naked pictures of himself to other women. Needless to say- it ended and I moved on– but I felt insecure for a while about being labeled a boring person! Luckily I found someone who wants to grow old and boring with me lol.
