chigirl217bride:  I’m somewhere inbetween those two, and my birthday is later this week eeek! I definitely am not one that says oh a card is just fine but at the same time I don’t go mad have a birthday month. Personally I love a day trip as something I will do on or around it, where I get treated to a nice meal or a short getaway. And of course with presents, I wouldn’t say no! I like to do thoughtful gifts for others so it’s nice when reciprocated.

At the very least I want a dinner on the day. I am very picky about that. I do not do “birthday dinner” any other night. One day a year is about me, and I want a dinner on it.

This year was my 30th and it ended up amazing due to one of my favorite singers being in town 2 days before, closing on a house the following monday, then 2 weeks later another band was in town. So I said I had “3 phases” of my birthday.

For my 29th birthday, my parents met up with my husband and I in Tennessee (it was supposed to be a surprise, but I made hubby spill the beans) My brother and his fiance at  the time (now wife)surprised me in Tennessee too! It was great! 🙂

my birthday is always labor day weekend, so i end up celebrating in some way more than one night usually. as far as expectations, i mean, i guess just feeling loved and special in some way. & my fiance usually goes way above & beyond and does an amazing job. as far as my family goes, it can be hit or miss, but Fiance totally makes up for it.

& balloons. i don’t care how old i get, balloons will forever make me happy.

I don’t expect anything from any friends/family. However if my Fiance didn’t acknowledge it then I would be SO upset! We don’t really get gifts (maybe something small) but we will go to a hotel and nice dinner to celebrate :-).

Oh, actually, the only family member I expect to hear from is my brother – but he’s my twin so he has ZERO excuse to not at least shoot me a text 😛

My SO and I have birthdays that are two days apart, so that already makes things very interesting. SO could care less about celebrating birthdays, but I prefer that my birthday be acknowledged in some way. I’m pretty easy to please–dinner and cake with friends who watch me get hammered. Done.

Right now I love getting together with friends and doing a game night or having drinks around the firepit if the weather is nice. Something super low key where we can just have an excuse to get together. Or if they aren’t available, that my Fiance and I can grab dinner together!
