I always find that I turn to music when I’m down or I’m stressed out, even though I’m not someone who constantly listens to music.
My favorite song that helps kick me out of a stressed out worry-wart funk is from Jesus Christ Superstar, Everything’s Alright.
The lyrics are just the right thing for me, especially the main Mary M stanzas.
Mary Magdalene:Try not to get worried, try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you, oh
Don’t you know
Everything’s alright, yes, everything’s fine
And we want you to sleep well tonight
Let the world turn without you tonight
If we try, we’ll get by
So forget all about us tonight
Apostles’ women:Everything’s alright, yes, everything’s alright, yes
Mary Magdalene:Sleep and I shall soothe you, calm you and anoint you
Myrrh for your hot forehead and
Then you’ll feel
Everything’s alright, yes, everything’s fine
And it’s cool and the ointment’s sweet
For the fire in your head and feet
Close your eyes, close your eyes
And relax, think of nothing tonight
Apostles’ women:
Everything’s alright, yes, everything’s alright, yes
Another big song that I go to all the time is Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea.
Never fails to pick up my mood!
Anyone have songs that they go to over & over to either get them out of a funk or put things in perspective?
