Over the last few years I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about my style and how I can make my wardrobe work for me. Instead of buying cheap things that only get worn once or twice I tend now to buy nicer things that I know are going to be mixed and matched into my wardrobe well.
I never thought I’d have gone for the whole ‘capsule closet’ but all of a sudden I feel like the last few years of concentrating on quality basics have paid off and I now have a whole wardrobe full of stuff that I can mix and match that I know works well together.
So here’s my style in a nutshell: classic shapes, basics in black and white with pops of red and olive green, lots of Breton, gorgeous texture like leather, cashmere, wool and the occasional sequin or bead, always a casual element, lashings of gold jewellery and statement making bright nails and lips!
so ladies, how would you describe your style? If you want to I’d love to see the three things (that you own or don’t) that define your style. Here are my three –
1. A white sleeveless blazer. Classic and clean but modern. Perfect.
2. A below the knee pencil skirt. Red is perfect.
And finally 3. Stacked gold rings upon painted fingers. Perfection.
So show me yours!

… Are yoga pants, a hoodie and flip flops an acceptable answer? lol

I think I’d describe my style as vintage, sweet, and feminine. I favor towards dresses with full skirts and a nipped in waist and flats, with lots of color if I can help it. This does tend to get me in trouble because my wardrobe is a lot of dresses and a lot of skirts, and not enough blouses to match!! On the weekends I usually go for more casual dresses/shifts/tunics with tights/leggings, or a nice shirt with skinny jeans.
My 3 items that define my style can be pulled from the last 3 things I bought (woohoo tax refund shopping spree!)
1: Aforementioned dress with full skirt and nipped in waist…
2. More an example of what I’d wear in summer, combining those vintage and casual portions. I love to go pinup especially at the beach!! I bought these shorts.. altho I hope to lose some tummy fat before the summer kicks in 😛
3. An easy casual tshirt dress

I’m a classic girl too. I wear tailored slacks, knit sweaters, silky blouses, pencil skirts, and trench coats to work. Social time is dark denim with boots (or peep-toe wedges in the summer), a nice blouse, and a statement coat or blazer (cool weather only). Casual wear is anything from cuffed shorts, skinny capris, yoga pants, or vintage jeans with a patterned top and designer sunglasses.
1. Classic cream trench coat:
2. Knee-high leather boots (with great details):
3. A versatile shift dress that can transition from work to date-night:

@Cady: I’m with you! haha
I have to dress nice for work so I wear dress pants and a nice shirt and the most comfortable shoes I can get away with and not get in trouble.
Outside of work it’s jeans or shorts and a t-shirt with flip flops, unless we actually go out or to dinner or something else that requires me to look socially acceptable then I’ll wear jeans, a cute shirt and flip flops or maybe a casual dress.

yeah I’m a jeans and a t-shirt with sneakers type of girl. Lol.

I’d say a loose T or dollman top with skinny jeans (in any color). Pair with boots in the cold months, ballet flats in warm months. I pretty much live in that type of outfit.

my style is kind of eccentric.
i go from classic and vintage (think audrey hepburn) to really funky and unique and other times i like to keep it simple with jeans and a t-shirt

My Louis Vuitton Speedy 30. I bought this after a bad breakup about 2.5 years ago – definitely my “retail therapy”. It is my favorite thing ever and I carry it at least 5 / 7 days of the week.
My DL1969 leggings – “Emma” style. These things are awesome. I wear them all the time. They are a special fabric and they do not stretch out.
My Rayban *rounded* Wayfarers. Ive had these for 3 years… One of my first purchases after getting my “grown-up” job. I love these because they are rounded at the top – different from the others that you see everywhere. Definitely a staple in my everyday wear. I’ll probably buy the same style when these break.

I would describe my wardrobe as classic, femine and trendy.
I know what works for my body and I tend to stick to those shapes. I almost always look for shapes that emphasize by curves and rarely wear anything loose fitting or boxy I like to be polished and I’m not a fan of looks that look messy on purpose, (ripped jeans, boho, etc)
I like feminine but strong touches and definitely gravitate towards flowy fabrics, lace, ruffles, beading, etc. Give me a vintage inspired dress in a lightweight fabric and I’m happy.
I try to stay on trend by working in a few trendy pieces each season that go with my overall look.
Here are a few looks that are very me:
I love a feminine sheath dress for work
faminine dresses for everyday
trendy color blocking but still flattering for a curvey figure
This is pretty typical of my winter look

I’m required to dress “business casual” for work, so I wear a lot of dress pants, sweaters and blouses during the week that my go to style invovles a lot of yoga pants, hoodies and hair looking like a hot mess. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

@Meowkers: I would say my style is very close to this.
I am pretty short waisted, so I tend to have to be more careful with belts. I like to look feminine and classy but also have a pair of cowboy boots I break out, too! I’m also a fan of great fitting jeans. I like trends ( a lot), but I can’t wear a lot of the newer styles since I actually have boobs haha
