I got my first real job when I started driving at 16…worked at a local surf shop. I didn’t work the first year of college, just to get acclimated to the college life and school work, but started working at a boat dealership/ski shop soon after. I’ve worked for my husband’s family for the last 6 years (construction).

I babysat for a family 4 days a week starting when I was 12. I also had a paper route 6 days a week starting that same year. We didnt have much money so I used that money to buy clothes and things like that. I got a “real” job a week after my 16th birthday working at a clothes store where I worked for 4 years, through high school and part of college. The 2nd half of college I worked 2 jobs…and have been working ever sense.

I worked in hs but it was a very flexible job. If I didn’t want to go in I didn’t have to. I worked only during summers in college, and not at all in grad school. Our teachers advised us against it since we had tons of studying, papers, and internship to deal with. I’m glad I listened.

I started working when I was 16, at a pharmacy in my hometown. The only time I did NOT work after that was my freshman year of college when my dad didn’t want me to have a job so I could get into the hang of things. But from my second-fifth year in college I always worked, and really took pride in that, especially when some of my slacker friends were just sitting around bitching about how their mom and dad didn’t get them enough money. So get a part time job and earn some! Also, I made a ton of friends at my job, and I wouldn’t have met them otherwise. I am not working now that I am staying home with our daughter and some days, it drives me crazy. I miss the satisfaction of a job well done. I very much look forward to returning to work when she goes to school.

I started working at 16 and have held a job in one form or another ever since. But apprently, over half the students at my uni have never, ever, ever had a job in their lives, which baffles and disturbs me.

I feel incredibly blessed as my parents supported me financially throughout college and law school.  I didn’t get a job until after getting my law degree at 26.

I started when I was like 12 or so. I had a full-time babysitting job in the summer, and would clean an office on the weekends. Been working since!

I starting working as a bus girl at a restaurant when I was 12. Yeah child labor laws weren’t the biggest deal where I grew up. LOL. I’ve been working ever since! I do wish I could afford to take like a year off though. I worked summers in JR. High, All throughout highschol (even during the school year) and all throughout college, and now. It would be nice to get a break. Even though I know that will like never happen. LOL.

I started working during college, year round. I did things like babysitting and working in my grandparents’ store before that though…probably when I was about 13.

I worked at a coffee shop starting at age 15…although I turned 16 a few weeks later. I worked a couple of shifts during the school week, but school was still my main priority. I worked mostly on weekends , and full time in the summer. I was able to get a really good job working in canadian parks, and have done that every summer since graduating high school. I’m a teacher now, so this will be my first summer not working…although I have a small photography business now so I plan to do that full time this summer! It will be nice to make my own hours, and not to be working under someone else.

I worked mainly on summers and 1 year when I had work study. I am about to begin working now with my new home business.
