it means your razor is blunt–use a super sharp one. And always use an oil-based or cream-based shave cream–soap won’t cut it.

Seriously i used to get the worst razor burn under my arm and then i found out it was b/c my razor was dull!

Exfoliate! I always exfoliate right before and right after I shave.. and then for the next day or so.

I use baby oil to shave, which really helps. And, it sounds weird, but after, I use a cotton ball with witch hazel and just go over the areas I shaved. It really cuts down on the bumps!

(I also agree with the others- sharp razor and exfoliating are key! Just make sure it’s nothing that will irritate your skin even more, like something with medication for your face/body!)

also, make sure you’re shaving in the direction of hair growth as opposed to against it (like you would for your legs)

I got this spray stuff that’s supposed to help. It’s by Noxema i think? i dont remember. They also have cream/lotion things of various varieties. It has sort of an odd smell, but not awful and it doesn’t really linger or anything. I have noticed it helps a bit.

I use shave secret when I shave (my college roomate turned me on to it.  It’s amazing) and Tend Skin lotion on the areas I shaved after I get out of the shower.  Tend Skin is great for guy’s razor burn/ingrown hairs too.

If I think I am going to get bad razor burn I actually use my deodorant down there! They have a lot of moisturizers in them that help with the razor burn! I also second the exfoliation!

I second Tend Skin.  Burns like a b!tch, especially if you have bad razor burn, but the pain only lasts like 30 seconds.  Just be careful if you shave everything not to nick your labia or you will be crying and withering in pain.

i get razor burn EVERY time, and it’s not because i have a dull razor. it happens even when my razor is brand new! there’s no way for me to fix it completely (and it itches like heck for me even weeks later, i guess my skin is just outrageously sensitive), but i ALWAYS put a gentle olive oil and aloe vera moisturizer by kiss my face on down there right after i’m done shaving. it definitely helps a lot.

Use Bikini Zone for shaving-it comes in blue & green color gels.  It works awesome. I don’t get razor burn down there. I don’t recommend the Bikini Zone for medicated creme..it burns like a mofo!!! OUCHIE!!

The shaving gel is sold in Wal-Mart, Target & etc.  Mostly found with the Nair stuff.

If you have razor burn now, I suggest using a little bit of Gold Bond powder. It works for my Boyfriend or Best Friend when he, umm, cleans up down there.  I have yet to try it.
