I got mine done in Minneapolis + I paid around 3k at LasikPlus with a payment plan to pay off within 2 years with no interest. When I went in for my consult, there was some sort of discount with my insurance plan so you should check into that as well just in case that helps give you a break.

got mine one in denver about 7 years ago and paid $3,050.  i think it was more for the custom wavefront but i didn’t qualify for it so we did the non-custom.  i also went with prk instead of lasik — the only difference is that instead of cutting a flap in the cornea, the entire top layer was gelled and scraped away.  the cells grew back over the next week.

i had consultations at ten different lasik centers.  several places were a lot cheaper but i didn’t trust them.  the high volume meant more chances for errors.  basically the doc just programs your prescription into the machine and the machine does most of the work.  there were a few places that were more expensive but i felt really comfortable with my doc.  he actually was there for the consult.  most places send other consultants and you don’t actually meet or know who your surgeon will be until the day of surgery.

I had Lasik a year ago in January so it’s been a year and 8 months since I had it done.  I have Custom Vue Lasik and it cost $3,600 for both eyes.  I was able to reduce the price with insurnace 15% off and using a FSA account which made the entire amount tax free so I saved more on top that price.

I got PRK (precursor to LASIK) in Ohio.  I chose the best doc, and figured I would pay whatever he charged.  He charges $4600 for LASIK or PRK.  There is a no-interest financing option, or 10% off for physicians.  I used flex spending money, so that made it much cheaper.

I had it done 2.5 years ago in Boston at a TLC office. I think it was around 4000, which included a VSP (vision insurance) discount. I had my consultation at the end of the year to find out if a I was a candidate, then maxed my flex spending account to cover it and had it donr early in the next year, which saved a lot of money. It was the custom kind, I think it’s the only kind TLC does.

@Ms.Sugarsnap:  I actually do need glasses again now, for driving, or things like watching a power point presentation or a movie in the theater. I CAN do all of those without (def could not before the surgery) but it’s much more comfortable with. Even knowing that outcome, I am still 100% glad I did it and would recommend it to anyone who is sick to death of their contacts and glasses like I was.

Well, I wish I could get Lasik but I’m ‘legally blind’ and they can’t do anything for me. BLEH!

I just got mine done in July in Southern Oregon. I had to get PRK because of my high correction (-11.75 in both) but the price for LASIK was the same, $4800 but because I went to a seminar from the place I got a $500 off coupon so it was $4300 for both eyes and for all of my appointments and that was with the wavefront stuff. I haven’t still fully healed but it was the best money I’ve ever spent! I went from 20/40 being the best I could see to seeing 20/30 for right now and they said it may even get better after my eyes are fully healed! It’s like my life has finally upgraded to high definition.

@StefLovesJamie:  Legally blind with correction or without? I was legally blind with no correction and the PRK worked great, have you looked into that? Also I know for even thinner corneas if your eye isn’t too long they also can implant lenses under your cornea to fix your vision. It’s been a life changing experience for me with how bad my vision was, don’t give up!

@StinaBremm:  Hm, I’ll have to look into that, thanks! (I can’t remember if it’s legally blind with or without correction..oops, probably should’ve gotten that info! LOL)

i had Lasik five years ago, and I believe it was roughly 3500 (in the Lexington, KY area). But as others have mentioned, I need to wear glasses now if I’m driving at night or doing a lot of computer work or reading (I just graduated from law school, so I basically wore glasses nonstop for the past three years). I still wouldn’t change a thing though, I’m incredibly happy I got it done.

My fiance got Lasik about a year ago for 3200.00 Clarkson EyeCare in Missouri. He said it was the best thing he has ever done/the best money he’s ever spent!!
