I dont think that you could go wrong with either – but it really depends on where you plan on wearing them.  Since these would probably be my only pair – I would get something that was appropriate for both work and play.

Definitely Decollette if you want to rely in these to be an all-purpose pump. I think the platform pair are really nice, but not nearly as classic or versatile – wouldn’t wear them to a funeral or a job interview.

Also, you can ask nordstrom to send a pair to your local store to try before you buy if they don’t have a pair there. They don’t like to do it (they’d rather have you buy then return if it doesn’t work out) but you can insist if you’d rather try them on before any purchase.

I prefer the shape of the Simples. I don’t necessarily think the platform makes it less wearable, or less appropriate for many occasions. The toe of the Decollette has always looked a little chunky to me. I have a pair of the old Simples without the platform, you could consider those?

i voted for the first pair.

platforms are in now but if you’re getting this pair to last i’d go with the more classic look

as for comfort regular soles are flexible as opposed to platform and i find them more comfortable and stable.

I definitely like the Decollette. Just wanted to mention the experience I had with trwanting to buy a pair. I went to go buy my first pair about a year back and my foot would not fit in them, the shoes are very narrow. My feet are kind of wide, but I’ve never had a problem with shoes (though J crew ballerina flats are too narrow too). Obviously many people wear these shoes with no problems, but I can’t 🙁

Is there any way you can go to a department store to try them on?

Since you’re ordering them, have you ever tried on a pair in the flesh? They certainly run small (by at least a half size) but they also run surprisingly narrow. I’m a solid average width 8. I tried on a two pairs of 8.5s last night, actually, and they were both uncomfortably narrow.  Don’t be surprised if you find the same. Made me rather sad, as I’d hoped to get a pair for the wedding.

Warning aside, I’d choose the Decollete, just on looks. It’s a beautiful shoe that will last a lifetime and withstand the winds of fashion.

The second one because I HATE shoes with pointy toes.

If they might be your only pair, go with the more classic decollette design. Platforms are a trend and won’t last forever.

@MASPA:  Get the platform.  I hear mixed reviews about the comfort levels of loubies so I would opt for the platform just as an added step.

They are so uncomfortable. But maybe that was my experience. I go through pumps like nobody’s business since I wear heels everyday. I was looking for a “durable” and quality pair of pumps. I thought Louboutin would provide such a product. ZOMG! It felt like someone strapped planks of wood to the bottom of my feet. I won’t get into the “squeezing” feeling.  I tried on both and the platforms might offer you a better chance of comfort.

By the way, I wear an 8.5 and I have a normal width foot. The shoe is an italian shoe so perhaps that’s why they felt uncomfortable to me.

I would get the first pair, because they are more classic and you will be able to wear them with a wider variety of outfits
