I always make my own cake! No offense to my family or Fiance or anything, but I am just better at baking than they are Tongue out

So that, or someone buys me a DQ ice cream cake.

Fiance even attempting to bake would be more harm than good. We normally go out to dinner for my birthday and if I get a cake it’s when we celebrate with our whole family. My Future Mother-In-Law normally bakes me a homemade angel food cake (my fav).

When I was little my mom would make me a cake for my birthday.  Once I hit my teens I started making my own cake.  Since I’ve been with my Fiance its been a toss up.  First year his mom actually made me a cake.  Since then I have made myself a cake every birthday except for my 21st, on my 21st he splurged and bought me a cake from my favorite bakery.  It’s hard because I can’t justify having him spend money on a cake (they’re way too expensive), when I can make a yummy cake myself.

I am usually the baker in our set of friends, but the FH knows to go to a certain bakery in town and get me what they call their wedding cake.  As much as I love my own baking, there is nothing that can touch that cake, so he is always been good about getting me one for my birthday.

aw. YAY for first birthday with your husband!!!

It depends, in years past when my ILs were still here my Mother-In-Law would typically bake me a cake. The one year we went to my fave dessert place for cake. Last year my husband -brave man!- made me a Tiramisu and it was awesome!

When I was younger my family always bought me my fave Taro Cake from Chinese bakeries!! Miss those. ๐Ÿ™

Darling Husband and I used to work together at a small, family-owned business, and whenever an employee had a birthday, our wonderful owner/boss would buy them a birthday cake. The whole store would sing to you, you’d cut the cake in the staff kitchen, anyone who wanted a slice would have one, and there was almost always at least half a cake left over to take home. So it’s nothing i’ve ever really thought about.

I’ve almost always made Darling Husband a pan of brownies on his birthday, because they’re his fave and he prefers them to a traditional cake, but Mariella couldn’t bear the idea of not having a proper cake. My birthday is in a month and a half. I doubt he has any plans of trying to bake, and I’d prefer we just went out to dinner and I indulged in a dessert rather than have an entire store-bought cake in my kitchen tempting me.

He makes me a carrot cake from scratch, even shreds the carrots and everything.  And makes amazing frosting.  I do the same for him, only I make his favorite flavor.  I like a handmade cake for a birthday best.

My mom and grandma alternate baking my cake.  They let the Fiance try once, but he used salt instead of sugar…so he respectfully bowed out. ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom usually makes a cake–she bought one this year though.  Hubby doesn’t bake lol.  My parents have a special “birthday plate” tradition so my brothers and I have to have cake every year at their house with the plate so hubby kinds of lucks out that the ‘rents are responsible for the celebration!

Last year my Future Mother-In-Law bought me a cake. TWO cakes actually. There was an “incident” with the first cake, so she walked out of the store with a new one AND the original one with no charge. ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t had a cake baked for me in a long time.  I’m buying myself some Gigi’s Cupcakes this year though!

He’s never baked me a cake. The first year we were dating he bought me a cheesecake. The second year he took me to a restaurant with unbelievable desserts. The third year we were on vacation in Mexico and I had birthday tiramisu. This past year….. I actually cant remember! lol. I am pretty sure he didn’t buy me dessert… but I think I we already had ice cream here or something? I dunno. lol.
