I used to have an account here when I was planning my wedding. I haven’t posted in a long time but lately I’ve felt the weddingbee bug bite so I decided to jump back in!
Tonight I was driving around and realized I’m sick of what’s been playing on the radio lately, but I’m feeling in a rut with my own personal music too. I thought it would be fun if everyone posted a link to their top 1-3 favorite songs with a quick explanation of why they like them.
I looooove the version of “We Found Love” with Lindsey Stirling. I think the combination of different sounds and cultures is beautiful and inspiring. It sounds fantastic when played with great speakers (my phone doesn’t do it justice). I seriously feel this one in my soul.
“Parachute”- I’m not exactly sure why I like this one so much, but I always get an image in my head of mountains, a storm in the distance, and an open road just before sunset. It makes me imagine that I’m all alone and surrounded by the overwhelming beauty and humbling power of nature.
“Far Away”- this one just reminds me of my first love. Not really because of the lyrics; it just somehow became associated with my first meaningful boyfriend. Oddly enough, to this day (12 years later) he is still a best friend to both me and my husband (the ex and I absolutely do not see each other romantically AT ALL anymore and he’s more like a brother to both of us). A couple of years ago this song came on while we were at an event together and it came up that it always reminded him of our relationship too, even though he also didn’t know why. So I don’t like this song because it is associated with an ex- rather, because it is associated with those feelings of exciting young love. My heart still skips a beat with the first few chords of the song even though my heart no longer skips for the person it once represented, if that makes sense haha.
I’d love to hear your favorite songs! If you don’t have a real reason for why you like them that’s fine too and you can just post a link. Or, if you get some kind of imagery in your head when listening to certain songs I’d love for you to describe it even if you don’t necessarily think the connection would be obvious to others.
