- Wedding: May 2012
I went to lunch with my mom a few weeks ago. I know that she has been chomping at the bit for Darling Husband and I to start a family. She wants a grandchild in the worst way. I did tell her that we were thinking about trying in April or so. I brought this up because my sister is planning on getting married in early 2014 with a destination wedding, and I’ve been trying to figure out if I should tell her our plans or not. I don’t want her to change her plans solely on this, but I also don’t want there to be any surprises. I don’t want to put a damper on her day, but this is a topic for a different post.
Anyway, my mom got really excited about my news, and I even ended up telling her names. I asked her to keep things quiet, just between us, and she said she would. Well, it wasn’t even 90 minutes later that she was telling our hair girl, the people at her office, and God knows who else.
I’m feeling so hurt that I don’t even want to use the names that we’ve told her, because nothing is a surprise anymore. I was at their company Christmas party with them, and she’s talking about this in front of EVERYBODY. This was pretty much the only thing that she was talking about. As she was announcing this to their table, I said, “You know, Darling Husband and I are thinking about changing the names, we’re moving on from them.” She then proceeded to tell me what names she liked and what we should name this child who hasn’t even been conceived yet!
So, I have learned my lesson…to not share information with anybody. I had to learn it the hard way. I guess I was just hoping my mom could keep this between us. I’m mainly just disappointed that she couldn’t follow through.
