Hi all, I don’t mean to derail the thread.. I live in NC but I recently began working for a huge corporation whose HQs is in NY. Anyone care to speculate as to whether or not  I will be covered for IVF?

zstbee84 :  Thanks for the info! I haven’t called my insurer yet. I actually had no idea about this new law until I stumbled across your thread this morning!  So kudos to you for starting this discussion!

I plan to call my insurer on Monday. I logged into my account with Excellus BCBS (based in Rochester NY) about 10 minutes ago. I can’t even see what my current benefits are because my policy is not in effect until tomorrow. Ugh!

My new hire coverage Starts Dec 1, but I also just completed the open enrollment paperwork for 2020 coverage beginning Jan 1

Well, that would be amazing. We shall see. Maybe your can your doctor can petition for earlier coverage on your behalf due to medical necessity?

zstbee84 :  I think you should keep investigating and I hope you get some answers! I’ll have to give my insurance company to clarify the changes. Before, my husband and I both had $50,000 lifetime maximums to be applied to basically all types of infertility treatment and drugs. So it’s interesting that it’s now shifting to 3 rounds versus those dollar amounts. Probably a change for the best for people who need to do multiple egg retrievals.
