My best friend is getting married at Cipriani on 42nd Street on Veterans weekend. She had high hopes of taking photos in front of the Flatiron Building however due to the Veterans Parade she won’t be able to (traffic, crowds, etc.). As most brides can relate, when you have your hopes set on something and it’s impossible to make happen on your big day it feels like the worst thing ever! I am in charge of coming up with alternative outdoor special areas that her and her soon-to-be hubby can take awesome photos in front of. Unfortunately, I haven’t lived in NY for the past 10 years and I have NO idea!!! PLEASE HELP me find a place that won’t be hindered by the Veterans Parade and if possible include your own photos. THANKS in advance!

if you can, speak to some roof top bar locations in that area and see if you could use their view?
For example, the rooftop of the Knickerbocker Hotel is pretty beautiful and if you’re doing pictures during the day, it might be empty/pre-open? in exchange, maybe the bride can offer the venue the use of the photos for publication?

Dumbo by the manhattan bride is also a beautiful outdoor venue (but requires getting their early)

So you’ll want to stay east of 5th to avoid the parade route. What time are her pics? Usually the parades are over by early afternoon.
Some ideas that are relatively close to Cipriani:
-Grand Central Terminal
-Gramercy Park: can’t get in the park without a key but you can get a killer shot with Lexington Ave in the background (Chrysler Building, etc in view). Rooftop of Gramercy Park Hotel is gorgeous as is the hotel itself
-Park Avenue North north of Grand Central. The flower beds along the medians are always planted seasonally & depending how far north they want to walk/ drive, many iconic NYC buildings like the Seagram and Lever House.
