@marlie:Hi, I’m seriously considering Tribeca Rooftop– do you have any insight? How was hte food? I love the site but my one concern is I cant find any pics of the food presentation.  Did you also look at the Lighthouse?  Any 411 would be greatly appreciated.  🙂

@inloveinbk: Are you doing the day wedding at Rebar or the later one on the 16th. I have to book a date soon and still lean towards the Sunday wedding from 7-11, but still think that is too late.

@Peapodsnyc: I went to a wedding there once. It was fab. Totally felt like I stepped back into 1920s NYC. Classic!

we had our wedding at St Monica’s Church on the 79th street and 1st avenue hubby and I are very traditional and both Catholic, it was my parish church and luckily for me already very beautiful so needed little decor

we had our reception at the Waldorf Astoria in the champagne room same room where Princess Grace had an engagement party; we had 60 guests (56 showed up, two got sick and hubby and one kid had to stay with sick wife)and only invited immediate family, a few cousins, lifelong friends, best friends and local friends; we kept the guestlist low so we could have the wedding of our dreams in a beautiful place, as NYC is very expensive, i could have had more guests but a less formal environment but I loved my wedding day and would never change it, it was about $250 per head and $150 per child I had lots of little nephews and nieces about 8 children so it was cheaper, but I saved on my gown which I got at kleinfeld sample sale at $600, my hairdresser/friend did my hair for free he works on 5th ave, my mom bought my veil, and I was a  DIY queen doing my own bouquets and flowers for only $350 buying red roses wholesale and doing all my own floral arrangements since it was an elaborate setting I didnt need to spend too much on decor we didnt even decorate our church it was already very pretty and lucky for us someone had left flowers!, and making my own invites, programs, shawls, giftbox, favors, as much as I could, it was the funnest day and happiest day of my life and wouldn’t change a thing; my vendors were friends or referrals from friends so I got deep discounts; my main thing was a fairytale reception because you only get married once but saving wherever we could since we paid for our wedding ourselves; but yes I would definitely splurge on venue because it is the most special day of your life, save in other places like cutting your guestlist or be a DIY queen like me;  mY DJ was a friend of a co-worker and gave us a discount we paid only $600, but he was really good and everyone was on the dancefloor, my friends said it was the funnest wedding they ever went to

the best day of my life!!!!
