Hi ladies! Do you any of you have recommendations for DJs to use for a NYC wedding? I want someone who is flexible and willing to listen to my ideas, but doesn’t need his/her hand held the whole time – if that makes sense Also, I don’t want anyone who is cheesy, although I guess no one really wants that. Any recommendations are helpful!

At another bride’s recommendation, we hired Carol from A Starry Night, and I feel she was excellent – dance floor was packed with people of all ages. http://www.astarrynight.com/
She sends a nice info package to you with a demo DVD on request. We never met with her, only spoke to her on the phone a couple of times. I would give her a very careful reception timeline because she had some timing issues at ours (didn’t play the parent dances at the right time and needed some prompting), but aside from that minor issue we were very happy with her. In fact, it was the quality of her DJing that convinced my Maid/Matron of Honor (who was planning her own wedding as well) to hire a DJ for hers instead of a band.

I would check out Dina Regine. djregine.com
She was one of NYC’s first female club dj’s and even opened the old club Lot 61. She has spun all over hte world and has a repertoire that spans samba, jazz, pop, classics, and even hip hop.

I am interested in hiring DJ Dina Regine. Did you hire her or have you ever been in any of the events she dj’ed for? What do you think about her work.
