5-10K for 75 people for the type of venue you are looking for in nyc especially BK is not that feasibile its about 130pp with venue fees.

Deity is the cheapest I’ve seen. Brookly winery would fit the bill but was more around 230 pp. My moon was a bit cheaper but still much more than 5-10K

naturallyd86 :  If it’s not too cold, you could get a permit in a public park, and then do a super casual reception at a bar, but beyond that, I don’t think you’re going to be able to find what you want in NYC. Good luck! And if you do find a venue, please update us!

Have you considered Queens? Maybe the Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria? Beautiful open space, plenty of seating, would be pretty awesome for a wedding. My friends got married at The Strand in Astoria. It’s family style fancy-ish barbecue fare, moonshine cocktails in ball jar glasses, wood and (I think) exposed brick throughout the big, open space. There’s a courtyard in the back where they had their service, but it might be too small for your numbers.

You can also look into Event spaces, lofts, etc.

However, if you go that route you will need to handle all the wedding related logistics — vendors for chair rentals, table rentals, catering, decorations, and music.

What about Dumbo Loft ? The price should be in your budget.

What about using The Greenhouse at The Foundry? It is in Long Island City, and is very close to Brooklyn! The space can hold 75 people for a seated dinner.

I am getting married at the Foundry and using that space for cocktail hour. I have a copy of the rates and the Greenhouse is $2,000. That rate doesn’t change during the year. Only issue would be that you’d need to rent another space (such as the courtyard, or the terrace, while they flipped the space from ceremony to reception (if you want them in the same space).

Also, look in to the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City. You can rent it for $6K, and if you use their preferred caterer they will take $1K off the rental fee.

Following this thread. I’m a BK bride having the same issue. We are really interested in a destination wedding as well but if we can find a local venue that meets our needs then we may consider keeping it local. I loved MYmoon but rates went up for 2017 and what they consider off season changed to dates that wouldn’t work for us.

naturallyd86 :  you guys should try Long Island or Jersey. You literally cannot find anything in NYC proper for that price. UNLESS of course you do it like some PPs said, in a public park or some other public place and then have the reception at a local restaurant.

I headed slightly upstate as there was nothing in my budget. I’m doing a reception in a resturant in Piermont, NY.

I have an appointment set up to view Hotel Indigo East in Riverdale on Long Island. It’s pretty far from Brooklyn but the grounds look really nice and the package and prices sound good. I’ll let you ladies know how it goes.
