Check out Fig and Olive, I found a wedding there featured on a blog once and it was GORGEOUS. They have a few locations in the city, and the food is awesome.

@JrzyGurl: Fig and Olive is delicious!

FI’s dad had his wedding reception at Chanterelle. Not sure how many they can hold but I feel like 85 might be doable. (EDITED: Just looked and Chanteerelle closed in 2009 Frown)

Also, look at Blue Water Grill, they may have a big private space.

I know a couple of people who have had their weddings at Del Posto and loved it.

We had our night-before dinner at Campo on the Upper West Side, and the space was great (and we had slightly more than 85, if I recall).  The price was great and the food is really yummy.

I just went to a fantastic restaurant up in Harlem.

It’s called Covo and has a big warehouse type feel with brick walls and great decor. They have a downstairs restaurant and upstairs lounge/club.

It’s way up there (~138th st) but the food was amazing and the space is very nice.

I heard that Becco on w. 46th does a really nice dinner and can hold up to 100 people on the second floor.

You can also look into i Trulli… It’s a delicious Italian restuarant over near Madison Square Park. We’re having our rehearsal dinner there and I know it can accomodate a party up to 300.

Our rehearsal dinner was for 80 people at “Sequoia” at the South Street Seaport.  It was less that $100/head (maybe $80?), which included open bar cocktail hour, unlimited wine during the meal, and 3 course dinner, including choice of entree. (plus flowers, table clothes, etc).  It was in a private room upstairs, right on Pier 17 overlooking the tall ships, and you could see the statue of liberty out the window (and just had to walk around the corner for the brooklyn bridge).

Good Luck!
