@skremer129:  I’m pretty sure you can’t have a Jewish wedding on a Saturday afternoon unless it’s after three stars are visible in the sky.

You will be able to find non-Jewish celebrants who might be willing to incorporate some Jewish traditions, but almost certainly not a rabbi, student rabbi or cantor.

Even the most liberal denominations don’t allow marriage on shabbat.

Are you Jewish?

You will be pretty hard pressed to find soneone marry you on Shabbat!  Some more liberal/less observent rabbis might marry you at sunset, but not make you wait for 3 stars. Also if you have guests who keep shabbat, they wont come to your wedding.

@SpecialSundae:  not sure if this is true.  an orthodox wedding, no, but  i think it depends on the rabbi otherwise

@li612:  I thought it was pretty much across the board. One of the few things that the denominations agree on.

Definitely no Jewish wedding on a Saturday afternoon.  No rabbi from any denomination (I don’t even think really reformed).  Good luck.

@skremer129:  My friends wedding ended up falling on some nearly unknown Jewish holiday and she couldnt find a Rabbi to marry her. Instead, she found a wonderful officiant who was able draw many Jewish traditons and customize it for it. I’ll send her an email and find out for you who she used!

Check with her she is very much about personalization of her couples. I know she travels into the city, shes in NNJ. Very reputable.

@skremer129:  Interfaith celebrants should be able to do that sort of thing.

I have a friend in Brooklyn who’s an officiant (and wedding photographer!) and Jewish – she’s not a rabbi or particularly observant, as far as I know, but she’s really awesome and I bet she’d be able to put together a beautiful ceremony with you. PM me if you’d like her contact info!
