Hi Bees – I’m having a bit of a heart attack here. My guest list has just clocked in at 233 people… which means we’re going to be having about 200 people at our actual wedding next summer. I had wanted a venue that was more deconstructed/industrial feeling (e.g. The Foundry) but all the ones that I look at are way above my price point (I want to keep it below $170/pp).
The places we’ve seen so far are either out of our price range, can’t accomodate our headcount, or just aren’t my style at all. Does anyone have any suggestions for venues? We don’t want to do it outside of NYC.

first.. good luck
i’m getting married in NY and couldn’t find a venue under 165 a plate. my guest list is at 250 but we’re shaving it down slowly. i just wrote a post about this in response to another NYC bride i’ll link you – http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/nyc-wedding-venue-2
anyway, i started my search on NY Mag which has like everything in ny. if you pick up new york magazine they usually will list some less expensive options in manhattan however with your guestlist of 200+ people it’s going to be difficult to come in under 170 a plate after all is really said and done. Additionally, take in to consideration that you will most likely need to have Valet parking and it’s generally one attendant per 50 cars.. some venues provide it but not many (the Tribeca roof top provides it)
there are also blank spaces (think skylight – http://skylightnyc.com/) that you can just rent but then you’d have to rent everything (lighting, caterer, tables, linens, chairs etc) as an outside vendor and while it seems like a good idea in the beginning it’s a LOT more work and can end up being costly. please let me know what you come up with! i gave up my manhattan wedding dream so let me live vicariously through you!

@CookieBee: Yea, I know what you mean – we’re looking at Bridgewaters and some other locations that are all around $185/pp to start which is really hard. The funny part is that I thought that would be expensive but looking at other places its downright reasonable. Craziness.
I’ll definintely keep you updated about where we end up… its going to be in the city by hook or by crook because both myself and my fiance have people coming from all over and I really don’t want to make them fly 8 hours and then drive 2 more. Seems mean.
Thanks for the help!

Have you looked at The Green Building? It might end up being out of your price range since it does require rentals, but if you can get creative, it has an industrial feel and can accomodate your numbers!
