We’re using Hank Lane’s Michael Hart band, and from what I heard they sound amazing! I’ll definitely post a review after our wedding 🙂

 I have 2 really amazing suggestions::

Savoy Stompers (they are incredible and do it all- swing, motown, jazz)

Eturnity (I am using this band, they are known for their mowtown but do everything as well, and I have been to a wedding- not one person had a butt in a chair)

We’re using a Hank Lane band too…Ernest Mills.  I think we listened to 3.  One was too jazzy for us, and the other two (Steve Miller or something? and Ernest Mills) were both really good. We ultimately went with Ernest Mills b/c they seemed to do the contemporary stuff slightly better.  I’ve heard great things about the two you mentioned also.

And, we auditioned some Faze 4 bands which were really good too (specifically True Blue).  Just something else to consider.

Hi all-

I was told Michael Hart is “insanely” expensive by the consultant we’re working with at Hank Lane…if anyone wouldn’t mind letting me know what they were quoted i would be INFINITELY appreciative…! I’m confused…!

We are using Uptown Swing (part of NYC Swing) for our wedding in August. They played my friends wedding 2 years and were AMAZING! They are fantastic musicians and really understand how to read a crowd and how to appeal to all the age groups. We are using them for mostly 40-50s swing music, then 60-70s rock. I’d be happy to pass on our contact there if you’re interested!

@sassnyc: fpr Michael Hart, we’re paying $5800 for a 5 piece band for four hours…I think it’s usually more expensive than this but since we have a Friday wedding, they said they were giving us a lower rate. I thinkw e’re going to go up to a 6th person, which would raise the price to $6400 I think.

Thanks so much! We’re looking at 9-10 piece bands on a Sunday of a holiday weekend sooo we get slammed. Enjoy them though! I hear they’re amazing 🙂

sassnyc- I just went to Faze 4 and the have 14 different bands and the ones I watched were 10 piece bands.  They do 4 hr contineous music and the price quote I got for True Blue including the 10 piece band, piano player and sax for cocktail, and Classical Trio for Ceremony- total of 6 hrs for $12,000.  No tax or other fees.  Good Luck!

I havent picked a band yet, that was my first showcase but they came recommended and I also saw them live at a wedding and they a high energy band.  No guest will be left sitting LOL! They interact with the guests and make it really fun!

@littlems97:

We are seriously considering hiring The Zoo to be the band for our manhattan wedding, but I can’t seem to find ANY video of them playing at a wedding!  I’ve seen them numerous times at bars/clubs but want to make sure I get a view of them at a wedding.  Any one who can help it would be greatly appreciated!!

Our other lead contender is Frank Michaels band from Hank Lane.  Same issue!  No one seems to have any video!! and I don’t know if they are just being suggested becuase they are who is available for our date.

If you have any feedback on either of these bands I would be forever grateful.

THANK YOU!

PS – We are also looking at Bruce Saunders, Livewire and going to see NYC Swing tonight!  We want our band to play mostly top 40s type music and minimal swing
