From what I have heard, that seems about average to stay in the city. We have some close friends who are planning a New York wedding. They priced hotels and came up with about what you have here. Ultimately they decided to hold the wedding outside of the city partially due to costs.

I have blocks at 3 diff hotels in July 2014, with the highest rate for a double @ 189! you  have to negoitate with them. It also depends where your venue is, since I am getting married in Red Hook, BK, i picked hotels that were right off the battery tunnel. I found that once you get a good rate at one place, the other places will match or come close. I would try and stay away from TS, but maybe look at some of the bigger hotels in the high 30’s. There are a ton of hotles there. There are also hotels (sheraton, Marriott, etc) off 9th over there and a bunch of hotels in the 20’s.

I will say this, you are going to need blocks at several places. I have found that unless you guarentee 80% of the rooms, most places wont hold more than 15 rooms.

You’ll likely need a few different hotels.  We ended up getting rooms at the W downtown and they were around $245/night which sadly was pretty reasonable.
