Depends on what you want.  If you do more of a cocktail reception, or have family cook you might.  The biggest important cost if food.  Photography and Music are very important and can cost more than your whole budget.  I’m having a buffet, very fancy reception for 50-60 ppl and have been able to keep a 5k budget, including favors, centerpieces, music, photographers, etc.  If you want PM me, I have tons of ideas and lots of resources for a DIY bride as far as those thiongs are concerned.  Dont mind sharing ideas with any budget conscience bride!

Yeah, I think you are crazy. I’m having a NYE wedding this year and every thing is slightly more expensive: especially staff. Good Luck

I am having a NYE wedding in 2011 too! My budget is going to be about 3k or 4k for around 80-100 guests. So I definitely think that it is possible on your budget. But my wedding is going to be very casual, with no music or photographer and we’re having pizza for the food. So that helps with staying under budget.

We are actually having a daytime event and then the parents will be hosting open houses nearby for more traditional NYE events for OOTers. One of the biggest reasons for having ours in the daytime is that we are having the ceremony outdoors, and the sun will probably set close to 4 pm. So we don’t think we could keep the party going for another 8 hours after the ceremony.

I’m having a NYE wedding in Philadelphia for 150 guests…it’s costing us 60k. Now I’m not saying it can’t be done for 3k but you will have to be very frugal and not be directly in a large city.

We’re having a very intimate NYE wedding/reception in California.  Not sure where yet.  I know we need to get started.  Our budget will be no more than $8,000 as we’re also purchasing a new house before the wedding.

I think you can have a beautiful wedding for any budget if you know how to use your budget properly.  I know someone who had a $500 wedding.  Of course it was intimate, but it was very beautiful and I must add a lot more beautiful than some of these $25,000 weddings I’ve gone to.  So, it is all in how you use your dollars.  Don’t be discouraged by the NYE quotes you receive.  Get creative.

I’m getting married NYE 2011 too!  So far I haven’t noticed an influx in prices for New Year’s Eve.  We’re doing the reception at a Wyndham hotel, and the packages are the same as any other day, as well as the ballroom minimum. I haven’t booked the photog, DJ, or florist yet, but so far all of my price quotes have had no mention of increases because of the holiday.

I’m just now starting to think about “theme” ideas – hopefully this is a place to share ideas!

I’m having a NYE wedding as well and so far, only some the reception venues wanted to charge more for having it that night.  We eventually booked a hall that didn’t charge any extra.  I’m finding other vendors don’t normally work those nights so they are happy to have another booking.

We are going w/ navy and silver for our colors with a snowflake, cozy winter feel to the event.  We are having a champagne toast at midnight and we will have the printed lyrics to Auld Lang Syne on each table for our guests to join in.

We all should share ideas!

I’m also a NYE bride! We haven’t found that any vendors charge more, its just been a challenge finding vendors who aren’t already booked. We called 9 locations and were left to pick from 2 (thank goodness one was our first choice).

We are doing lime green and black as our primary colors with black and white damask as an accent.

Looking forward to sharing ideas with you all! 🙂
