That is MORE than enough variety! Sounds really tasty.

Now, is there a formal dinner after this as well? Because it sounds like so much food, I have a feeling you’re guests will be full by the end of the cocktail hour, which is great if this is a horderves-based meal, not as great if it’s not.

I think those are all great options!  That food sounds great.  I would probably skip the salad, but that’s just me.  If I am choosing between all that food… no way am I going to eat salad.  I don’t think you need passed H’orderves.  What you have come up with this plenty, and sounds delicious.

a lot of carbs and not too much protein.  what about adding kabobs or chicken satay or something along those lines.

    everything else looks great.

@missglitterbee:  I think it’s too much food! I would get rid of the pasta bar. Then I would do passed horsD.

@missglitterbee:  I like that idea. Pick up some frozen mini-quiche and spinach phyllo dough thingys–one less thing you have to make from sratch.

I too am getting married on NYE 2014 and love the idea of a cocktail reception b/c my reception will also be starting at 8 or 9. I was thinking that a sit down dinner may be too heavy to keep people up late at night BUT I don’t know how well a cocktail reception will go over with my family. Lol. They are definitely traditionalists. The few wedding professionals that I’ve spoken with also love the idea of a cocktail reception BUT they disagree that a sit down dinner will be heavy. They say folks tend to eat later on NYE expecting to stay up… I don’t know. I’m still very undecided. Maybe I’ll start a thread and open a poll.

My wedding is on NYE 2013 and I’m also doing a cocktail reception with multiple food stations, a dessert buffet and then a midnight snack (which is also our favor).  I’m doing a heavier cocktail reception because of the fact that people do stay up later on NYE and tend to drink more alcohol while celebrating!  I’m so excited for my wedding less than 3 months away!!

This will be A LOT of work. Since it’s just for 60 people, why nto explore your catering options? Might be more affordable then you think

@missglitterbee:  My only concern with this menu would be, logistically, how you are going to handle the mashed potatoes. If they are already in the martini glasses, unless you have them under heat lamps, they are at risk of getting cold and gluey. Everything else seems much easier to achieve DIY using either Crockpots or hotel pan/Sterno combinations.
