I’m going to be honest here, I don’t like it. I like the idea, but the fonts need to be changed, and it’s very flat-looking.

@ChocolateLime:  Is your Dad a stickler for correct punctuation? There should be an apostrophe in Year’s.

It looks flat as in it just looks like words on a background–there’s no depth to it. I really like the font in the inspiration poster–you used, is that Calibri? It’s just a very plain font. I like basically any of the fonts on the very first page here.

Like I said, I like the idea. I like the colors you used. I would do Budmo for the top bit (2012-2013 NYE Party) and then Market Deco for the rest. Bring the opacity on the black band behind the location down a bit so that you can see the fireworks behind it. Put something between the date and location (like a |), a comma between the ticket prices, and maybe the address and phone number of the venue at the bottom (in case anyone has questions?), and yes, an apostrophe with Year’s (but it does look odd with and without it).

@ChocolateLime:  If the average age of the members is 65, there is even more reason to include the correct punctuation. People of that age were brought up to use correct punctuation and will likely bring the error to the attention of your Dad.
