LilliV :  exactly.  Smh at the avariciousness of immediately jumping to wanting to make a “claim”….

I had a bx done during a colpo and I remember having this thing come out of me after a few days when I was in the shower. It was the silver nitrate they used to cauterize afterwards and probably some of the betadine used to clean before hand. That’s what it sounds like it was.

After my colposcopy, some grainy black stuff came out lol sorry tmi. It was a mix of the solution they used to stop the bleeding, plus my blood. You’re okay!

There shouldn’t be gauze during a colpo.

They look down t here with the colposcope, and they may use a needle to inject meds into you to sample your cervix tissue.

And then they spray vinegar on there to change the color of the cells so that they show up vividly for the scope. But they shouldn’t be using any gauze.

I have had this done at least four times, and never was there any gauze used.

OMG I’m so glad it wasn’t actually gauze! My OB left gauze in me after I GAVE BIRTH. I had an episiotomy and apparently she stuffed gauze up there to stop the bleeding while she stitched me up. I didn’t know about it until THREE days later a few hours after I got home from the hospital. I went to use the restroom and happened to look down and I freaked out. I rushed to the ER thinking my uterus was falling out of me! I was too scared to look down there myself so when I finally was seen by a doctor he was like “oh it’s just some gauze….” it was honestly traumatizing. I can’t believe it happened and I didn’t know for 3 days, especially after giving birth I was already so susceptible to infection.

Sorry for all the tmi I just had to share my story after reading 😆

I’ve never had gauze during a colposcopy. Maybe if it was small enough it was remnants from the cotton swab they use to apply vinegar to the cervix? Just a thought.
