“My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
my love as deep: the more I give to thee,
the more I have, for both are infinite.” – William Shakespeare

“How much do I love thee?
Go ask the deep sea
How many rare gems
In its coral caves be;
Or ask the broad billows,
That ceaselessly roar,
How many bright sands
Do they kiss on the shore?” – Mary Ashley Townsend

There’s this from GIft From teh Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh:

When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is even a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. We are afraid it will never return. We insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity; when the only continuity possible, in life as in love, is in growth, in fluidity – in freedom, in the sense that the dancers are free, barely touching as they pass, but partners in the same pattern.

The only real security is not in owning or possessing, not in demanding or expecting, not in hoping, even. Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what was in nostalgia, nor forward to what it might be in dread or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now. Relationships must be like islands, one must accept them for what they are here and now, within their limits – islands, surrounded and interrupted by the sea, and continually visited and abandoned by the tides.

1.not sure if the beach is close enough to what you are looking for:

Take my hands and walk with me.
Down the beach where it’s quiet and serene.

The night is cool as the cold breeze blew.
I snuggle up tight into your arms it drew.

Stars lit up the sky ever so bright.
For you and me it was a perfect night.

The moon shines and brightness beams down like magic potion.
The reflection oh so beautiful like a silver lining across the ocean.

Sweet loving words together we would share.
As we look into each other’s eyes we stare.

And there was something in the night.
That with it’s magic that overwhelms us.
Not only that we saw…..
But we both felt the moonlight around us….

Ocean of Love

Have you ever sailed on vast ocean,
With no island to see, and things are out of reach?
With dreams and mysteries filled this ocean,
And a never ending faith that someone would teach?

Have you ever felt that feeling,
Of a deep calmness within you that’s hard to fight?
And no one could help you believing,
That you’re striving for the right?

Did you ever sailed on an ocean,
That further placed upon your heart?
For deeply below this ocean,
Lies a silent whisper, where love starts.

An ocean of Love, the ocean of dreams
Where you can find solace and exceptional truth
Though pain resides even if you don’t dream
As the existence of love bears its fruit.

The fruit of harmony, bliss, and wonder
Without the seed that’s buried down below
Like a pearl that lies down under
The ocean of love they call, starts hello.

Upon this vast ocean, two souls were me and you
Over the waves and across the surface
I have found a love so true
The ocean of love was then the wondrous place.

You should check out Gift From The Sea- there’s a lot of really great passages in there, so even if you don’t like the one posted, you might like others.  I got it as an engagement gift and can’t use it because we’re getting married in a church, but I found about 10 different sections I would’ve loved to use as readings.  I’m in the process of moving and my book is packed or I’d type them out for you!

@Aimeeb1982:  The only longer reading I can think of would be “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”… it’s a great inspirational story. Not quite sure if it could be wedding-related… but maybe you could find a passage from it??
