So August is going to be a big month this year… my fiancé is graduating from the Army’s OCS (officer candidate school) August 6th, he’s starting his job as a firefighter August 14th, and he’s turning 25 August 24th! With all of his achievements and turning 1/2 a century old I really want to get him a great gift. I’ve been trying to think of the perfect gift for a while now but I just can’t manage to come up with one. First I was thinking about purchasing a dress watch that he could wear on special occasions. However, I’m afraid that he won’t like what I pick out because our styles tend to differ. I was also thinking about purchasing an Army Officer Saber from Marlow White, but I’m not sure if he’d like a more practical gift. What do you think ladies? What have you given the officer in your life to commemorate their achievements?

I would have gone with a Sword if I could have afforded it for my FI’s OCS grad, but I’m somewhat glad I didn’t because it would have NEVER been used. Except maybe at our wedding, but maybe that will be a wedding present?. I love the idea of a dress watch. I ended up going with an engraved flask and a battleship game. Battleship was mostly just a joke since he’s Navy, but he loved that more than the flask I think. I’m sure you’ll figure out what he would like most!

personaized challenge coin (you can get them engraved pretty easily)
sword (which are cool to display, you can get a bracket for it)
good quality watch with an engraved back
if he’s prior enlisted and has ribbons, get his ribbons professionally mounted

A sword! or a really nice watch (maybe a skeleton one where you can see all the gears).

I am planning on getting my Darling Husband a Citizen Eco Drive watch after he is done with training. He’s always wanted one, and they are super cool! They never stop, and run on light and movement. They’re pricey enough that they’re a really nice gift, but aren’t terribly expensive.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the input. I ended up getting him a Bulova watch, it looked so nice with his dress blues.
