The boyfriend and I are looking at engagement rings (yeah!) and I know I want a halo setting. The center diamond will be an approx. 1 carat round.
I was all set to get a round halo (see second setting) until I came across this setting. It is completely different as it has an octagon shaped halo and I really like it!
I am having trouble finding a real photo of someone wearing one. I think it’s so neat as I have never seen anything like this in real life.
This is the other setting I really like. It has a split shank with a twist.
My boyfriend wants me to choose as he is afraid of choosing the wrong thing and doesn’t want me to be disappointed. I know a wedding band will fit better with the octagon shaped one, but having a curved one made for the split shank twisted one doesn’t bother me.
What do you think?

I like both of them, however I like the 2nd one better. I feel like the other one would get caught on things really easy and may become more irritating than it is worth. Also, consider how hard it would be to find a wedding band that fits with it, unless you can buy it as a set.

I actually really love the octagon halo. I’ve never seen one before, and I think it’s really unique and beautiful!

I love the octagon halo! I know there’s a bee that has one, and it’s beautiful!

I voted # 2 just because I feel it’s more timeless. But if you are going for different I would do #1. They both are gorgeous in their own right!

Get the octagon! I think it’s amazing! You could probably get a wedding band that slips underneath the halo, just like it would for a round halo.

I like the round halo better! Just my preference, but I find the edges of the octagon a little masculine or maybe just too modern.

I am a bit biased as there are few halos I like, but I really like that octagon one!
It just seems a bit more unique and cleaner.
This one is a bit more antiquey, but gorgeous and Pearlman’s is great to deal with!:
More of a clipped corner square than a octagon, but still cool!:
Oh, here are a few more suggestions and some pics!:
